The unit has only one three prong plug on the back. Many have two, so that both wall outlets/receptacles are utilized. I think having only one makes it somewhat less sturdy and more wobbly when using a heavy cord. Also the power requirements of the air conditioner matter a lot. The unit is rated at 1875 watts (or 15 amps), which includes the total of all three of the outlets, so you have to add up the power requirements of everything that is plugged into the unit. Air conditioners can draw a lot of power. They are often rated in BTU (British Thermal Unit) where you DIVIDE the BTU's by 3.41 to get watts. So a 6000 BTU air conditioner (typical size) would be 1758 watts (or 14.65 amps). This is very close to the unit's rating of 1875 watts. IMPORTANT NOTE: The unit's rating of 1875 watts (15 amps) correlates to the common rating of 15 amps for outlets in a typical house, so 15 amps is the point where your circuit breaker will blow. HOWEVER, outlets are often ganged together in a given area, like a living room, or even an entire 1st floor depending on how badly the wiring was done or how long ago it was done. If you plug an air conditioner that runs near 15 amps into an outlet with many ganged outlets, there's a good chance you will be regularly blowing circuits. RECOMMENDATION. Do NOT plug an air conditioner into a unit that is over the 1875 watt (15 amp) limit. That translates to 6000 BTU or less. If you get the unit for the USB charging feature AND you want to plug in an air conditioner, block the empty outlets with child-proof outlet covers so that they are not inadvertently used. That includes the two unused outlets on the unit and the unused outlet below/above the unit. FINAL NOTE: we like the unit which works well for us. It just is not made for heavy duty use. Many times a separate circuit with an independent outlet is run for areas where you want to use an air conditioner. Our power kept going off and on. 5 minutes on, then off, then on again for 5 minutes, then off. This lasted for most of the night, so these devices got a real test. And they came through the test great! Nothing plugged into these power strips got fried. Everything still worked. So, they did the job they were supposed to, and I am very happy with their performance.
