**Q: Is this a genuine motorcraft part? Some of the reviews seem to say otherwise.**
A: it is a motorcraft part.  I installed it in my Mercury and it is working fine

**Q: What activates the relay... positive to the small post or negative?**
A: The small post is the 12 volts (positive) from the switch inside the vehicle when it is in the start position. There is no negative to this solenoid other than the case itself. The negative is through the chassis ground. If you have a negative wire it would go to the screws that hold the unit to the firewall.

**Q: I have 5 connections to starter solenoid not 3**
A: Yes, it should work solenoid

**Q: is it American made**
A: Got one a couple months ago and delivered in authentic looking Motorcraft box, on box bottom says "Assembled in Mexico" - works like a champ.
