Ghosts Among Us: True Stories of Spirit Encounters

I enjoyed this book on ghosts very much. It shows far more intelligence and is written with far more diligence than your average spook book. Those will say, "the ghost is said to appear in the moonlight on cloudy nights ..." Period. This is a whole different deal. She gives place, time, circumstances, history, accounts and more for each story. I really appreciate that.The only snag i found, for me, was at the end. That's where (she saves for last) she explains her meeting with Ted Bundy, who was befriended by her mother, Ann Rule. Then the book stops! Right there! You might say it goes POOF. Not satisfying.So her mom is gone now. So is Mr. Bundy as well as all his victims. Do you think they compare notes on the other side? Do you think Ann asks Ted WHY???? Does Mom come back to visit daughter? I'd really like to know.

As I said in my review for Ghosts in the Mirror, I've read other books by Leslie Rule and liked them, this one to my great surprise however, ended up being a bit of a disappointment. And while, I don't like giving negative reviews, if not for at least some of the photos, this would only have recieved 3 stars, if that. If you have a fear of clowns you might want to skip reading this book, there are several photos of them, as well as stories. And all are located in the first chapter. There's also a terrified-looking carousel horse(And I think I'll stay out of the amusment parks, thanks Ms. Rule). In addition to these a creepy doll also has her photo featured here. Aside from these, including one taken in a cemetery, nothing really grabved me in terms of story. As usual, with her writing, there is a large sense of history within these pages, but a majority of these felt rushed, and the details glossed over. The edition I have also contains a few typos. Only two stories really gave me the creeps while reading them, but I felt this could have been better and it's not my favorite by this author.

Having grown up in a haunted house, I'm a little picky when it comes to other peoples' ghost stories, so maybe I'm harder to please, but this book just did not have enough hard evidence to satisfy me. There are too many instances of "some say..." and "legend has it...," and while these little asides can be entertaining, I'm much more interested in real eye-witness accounts.While I loved stories like the children on the carousel as well as some of the letters from real people, there were just not enough of these first-hand accounts to create any substantial goose bumps. There was too much unconvincing speculation that seemed to be reaching for credibility in stories that were just too vague, and simply lacked the in-depth detail to be considered serious documentation.I did enjoy the historical info and was pleased with Ms. Rule's ability to round up eye-witnesses who were not only willing to share their real names, but were also willing to be photographed. However, there were too many unsatisfying half-page blurps which relied heavily on hearsay, and I thought the theory of the carousel as an energy vortex was just too over the top.Overall, this was entertaining, but not one of the best collections I have come across. Perhaps it should have been called "Ghosts and Legends Among Us." If you are looking for a book full of ALL first-hand accounts that will really send chills down your spine, try  Nantucket Ghosts  by Blue Balliett.

I like that Leslie Rule didn't just passively collect stories and cobble them together. Instead, she went to these haunted places and experienced them for herself. That's what an excellent writer does. And she brings the places and stories to life in a way that most ghost story writers cannot. One of the best ghost books around!

I believe this is the fourth of Ms. Rules books that I have finished in one sitting. I start and then become so involved I don't know the passing of time. This was as entertaining as 'Coast to Coast Ghosts'. The books featured places I have visited and I am sorry I didn't know the history of those places then. I will certainly be looking up the locations my next visit in town. (Thanks to the names, addresses and phone number provided). In fact, I just might go because of the interest aroused by the intriguing tales woven by Ms. Rule. Thank you Leslie, look forward to starting 'When the Ghost Screams' but it will have to wait until I have time to start and finish. BTY Frank Bender is a genius artist. His work is astonishing and so helpful to law enforcement and grieving families.

I really enjoy Ann Rule's books, and so I figured the writing gene passed on to her daughter Leslie. I was pleased that it did. This text is a good informative read for ghost buffs. Even if you do not believe, there is certainly a bigger entity out there that no one living knows about, and certainly I have had unexplainable events in my life I would call paranormal. This book is like a reaffirmation of my beliefs that we are not really alone. For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, no explanation is possible. Choose at your will.

Im a fanatic when it comes to the paranormal. Figured this would be another ghost story book but this 1 was different. This 1 was very informative with the history of locations and the present stories of the hauntings. Had lots of pictures and information if i wanted to visit the locations. The sale had fast shipping as well as being in perfect condition.

If your into real ghost storys then this book is very good,it's second hand came in very good condition,took a little while to arrive and I forgot all about it until it turned up in the post.
