Great Rod. Great Warranty.
Received this rod from Amazon the day before leaving on a 3 day fishing trip and was eager to try it out. As I am new to fly fishing, I was using it as a spinning rod. When we got to the first lake I immediately caught a couple of fish (1-2 lb trout) using a lure, but while landing the second the rod tip broke off at point where the last section attaches. My son suggested I continue to fish using the rest of the rod, but switching to bait (night crawlers) and quickly caught a third fish (but casting at this point was difficult). Eagle claw replaced the rod under warranty without issue within 2 weeks of receiving it. BOTTOM LINE: I am very satisfied with the rod and with the way the company honors the warranty.

Cheap and brittle - very disappointed
I bought 2 of these to take on a fishing trip to Canada with my son (age 25). I had to order another one before we ever left because the reversible bottom piece was stepped and it would not stay screwed to the pole. Then the replacement pole broke on the very first fish we caught with it - about a 2 lb. pikeminnow. It was my son’s pole and we had to go buy him another one and I had to buy one for myself as well because I knew I couldn’t trust it. This was very disappointing to me because I have had a Trailmaster for over 30 years and have not had a single issue. I would still be using my original pole except I lost one of the pieces. I did not try to send them back to Eagle Claw for replacement or repair because they were so brand new, I will not buy another rod from Eagle Claw.

Not bad for money
So trying out fly fishing for first time I recommend this rod. I fell in love with this type of fishing. However you get what you pay for. I broke the rod by miss use testing the flexibility the repaired it myself and broke again when snagged in tree. If you just use it and don't push it to crazy limits. I don't see it being a bad rod. Not a lifetime rod but good for getting into the fly world without breaking the bank. I say do it.Sincerely, the guy down stream.

What an amazing deal for a quality rod
What an amazing deal for a quality rod. I grew up spin fishing buy for last decade I am mostly a fly fisherman. But sometimes when I am up in the mountains at lakes or at reservoirs I like to pull out the spinning rod so I can get some far distance casts. And I do miss fishing mepps spinners sometimes, still a great way to fish. This rod gives me the best of both worlds while camping. I can spin or fly fish and it packs up small so for hiking. The biggest thing is the price. I own some expensive $700 fly rods but this rod performs just fine for what it is and so the value and is amazing and the rod looks great too.

Came broken, unusable.
Came unusable straight from its box… of which was mutilated, although supposed to be “new in box”. This was very annoying and disappointing. Return process is a unusually complicated deal, and seemed postage returned would be charged.I looked forward to having a nice travel rod, darn. How could this problem be missed during quality control?

Great pack rod for the money.
I have the 4 piece that is about 30 years old that is great. This packs up smaller for our backpacking trips. The action of this rod is perfect.

Great rod. I have used it as both a ...
Great rod. I have used it as both a spinning rod as well as a fly rod. As a spinning rod I have caught a couple of nice largemouth bass in the 1lbs ~ 2lbs range and a really feisty 3 lbs channel catfish. Great size and nice case. Now I am in search of a case for my reels and some kind of smaller tackle box, since now I am packing each component of my camping fishing gear in their individual bags.
