Respect the artist
All I have to say is, the stories of Jeffrey's family are just endearing to say the least. Who cares if his drawings stink? They don't need to be professional to demonstrate his private life, the part that he wants to share with the outside world because... well, precisely that. If you respect this artist, then you respect his efforts in trying to give you a glimpse into his very real life. His cat observation books are both very funny and charming. His kids observation one is also really funny. When you can accept that he is not the perfect graphic artist that many expect him to be, then you will rather discover a man with a very gentle heart who loves everything that surrounds him, including his family and cats, and within that, find the brilliance behind the man.

Fun with fatherhood with Jeffrey Brown
Love this author/illustrator. His 'Darth Vader and son' and 'Darth Vader's little princess' are delightful. This book gives the readers a short bio of his life and fatherhood. Has a few bad words (naughty, Jeffrey) which may not be acceptable in all elementary libraries and does mention his teen years when he and his friends talked bad about gays. He expresses regret now, that he followed his peers' lead. I fear the naughty words and mention of homosexuality means this book will be better off in a high school or public library.

Short and Neat
I've been enjoying JeffBro's comics for a long time, and many collections of his work have had me laughing hysterically over repeated readings. A Matter of Life is not a knee slapper, exactly but a quiet and poignant-without-trying-too-hard reflection on life and fatherhood. And, it's still funny. The color is beautiful, and the relatively simple cartoons come alive on the page. I wish it were a little longer.

The Comic Book Memoir a Great Author
It was good, but we did not LOVE it like we did his Star Wars Journal Series.

Jeffrey brown. simply amazing
Jeffery brown has a way of pulling the reader into the story. Most reads like poetry. When you start you don't want to stop. I've met him at a con or two and his writing reflects his personality, just like you would hope. This isn't made up, this is him. And he can tell a story.

Excellent.
A collection of vignettes from the author's life about his own childhood and his son's development. Most stories deal with small details that shaped the author's views of life, the universe, and everything. He reflects his own experiences against his son's development and understanding of the ways of the world and wonders if he understands anything at all.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FOR CHILDREN. I made ...
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FOR CHILDREN. I made the mistake of assuming this was a children's book. The cover features a man and his child. Other books by this author are appropriate for children. This book is for adults only-- and there should be a warning for parents that this book is not for children. This cover is so deliberately marketed to children that it makes me question the author's and editor's motives.

I like you, Jeffrey Brown
(ntm Charlie.) Brown has grown up in the interim and now has more adult concerns. He still exploits the embarrassment of being alive and dissects the awkward moments as he always has, but his life is quite settled now, he seems happy, and therefore there is less fodder for those. He has developed as artists should - trying colour markers now, which work quite well with his style. There is something human and touching about the line quality, but I can't help missing the old days, where it was easy to imagine him drawing his stories in a cafe in Chicago, as they happened to him.

Big Jeffrey Brown fan
I was introduced to Jeffrey Brown books by my ex-girlfriend (who happens to be the Marie in Marie Versus: The Car. In his book Little Things: A Memoir In Slices) I haven't read any of his Jedi stuff, but I've read pretty much everything else and every single one of his books are a tiny nugget of thoughtful, awkward, funny sometimes sad, page turning bliss. He has a knack of making the everyday ordinary things that happen in life so bloody entertaining. If you've read any of his other books you won't be disappointed and if this is your first, it certainly won't be your last. Enjoy!

Another Brilliant Jeffrey Brown Book
If you enjoyed Clumsy, Unlikely, Funny Misshapen Body (you should check these out, too) you will love this, it's as funny and touching as all his other stuff. The hardback format is nice as it doesn't get as scuffed in your bag when you're reading out and about.
