Slim, solid build quality, travels well. Lackluster battery life.
The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the Lighting Science Group HEALTHE 7028 Journi Mobile Task Light, Space Grey.I think LED lighting products are pretty cool and some designs are just ingenious. This Journi Mobile Task Light falls into the ingenious category for me. This is excellent as a task light. I use it on my desk right next to my laptop. I also take it into my bedroom and use it for reading. I adjust the color temperature to fit the time of day. The light has three different color temperatures that you can select from and each color can be adjusted in brightness. The brightest setting produces 300 lumens of light which is pretty bright. When reading at night, I use the GoodNight setting which is 2000K and is blue depleted. Conversely, during the day as a task light, I use the GoodDay setting which is blue-enriched at 4500K. The other setting is called General Illumination and is 3000K.This light can be positioned in two positions, one pointing down, the other pointing up. As a task light I have it pointing down and if I want to just have some ambient light in the room I can reposition the unique base to direct the light more upwards towards a wall. The unit is very slim and about 12" long and 3 3/8" wide. Made of aluminum it feels solid and well-built.The 4000mAh Li-ion battery is charged via microUSB cable (included) but disappointingly only provides power for about 2 hours of operation at the brightest setting. I was hoping for more. But you can always keep it plugged in to USB power and run it all the time. The LED's have a projected lifespan of 20,000 hours.I appreciate the fact that this is easily packable since it is so thin. I take this with me on trips so I can more easily read in bed. It's far superior to any LED clip-type light that I've ever used.Just wish the battery operation were more robust. But overall an excellent quality LED lighting solution.

Marital harmony is just a light away.
We already had one which we got as a gift. We bought the second one to avoid us squabbling over who gets to use. it. The second one works every bit as well as the first.

A really great idea!
Update: This is the coolest little light idea! But I find as I use it more and more, it’s not as functional for my needs as I’d like it to be. I have a hard time directing the light to where I am reading—the stand is a bit awkward and I don’t understand why they didn’t design a better stand for it; the light is a bit top heavy for the stand. Directing the light where I want it using the stand is just awkward and I can’t always get what light I need to read by. Where the buttons are, sometimes I accidentally turn it off or press one of the other buttons but that’s not a deal-breaker. So, this is a cool idea and a cool light but it has some design issues that could be ironed out to make it even better. It is great for mood lighting, but not so much for reading by.I will say one thing: during Winter Storm Diego, this little device did come in very handy when I lost power for a couple of days—like having a candle without the flame!Leaving the rest of my review as it originally was:————I’d love to send one to my son & DIL in Oregon, since they don’t receive a lot of sunshine. But even here in my mountains, we can have very rainy seasons (as we have been having), and during the winter with snows that come. So this light is supposed to be a kind of ‘healthy light’ source, not mimicking the sun but giving off light that helps with those dreary times of no sun. There are several modes of light color/intensity, just by the push of a button. Like, warm ambient good night light and brighter happier good day light. It reminds me of a long cellphone, thin and sleek. The cover flips around to cover the front to protect it or to stand it up. I wish it had more standing up options, as the cover that you flip around to stand it isn’t really up-to-par for me—it’s a little awkward—something sturdier would be nice or some other design option for standing. My unit sometimes seems as if there isn’t much difference between bright and low - when I press the buttons to switch from low to bright, there doesn’t seem to be much difference there. It won’t take up too much room on your bedside, or if you want to travel with it. I think it’d be good if you didn’t want to wake a partner with too much light but wanted to read a while. One of the light sequences is maybe like one of the night settings on your iPhone. It isn’t cheap at around $100-$110 but that’s not unreasonable for what you get either, I suppose. A really great idea. I also like that it’s rechargeable, so while you can plug it in to recharge, there’s no wiring when you use it, like your phone. I don’t know how long the battery lasts yet as I’ve not tested it that far.For a long time I’ve wanted a light that is battery operated that I could use in a dark part of my log house’s living room where there’s no place to put a lamp without cords snaking (hate cords showing!), so this little device will work fine. I still find it a little awkward to read by, but I’ll find that perfect setting.

The on/off button broke (stuck in the "on" position) after about 1 month
The on/off button broke (stuck in the "on" position) about 1 month after getting it with very little use (maybe 12 times for 1 hour each use). Never even traveled with the thing. It sat in my office on a shelf (no banging it around in a suitcase or backpack). The 3 buttons feel pretty cheap and flimsy. Didn't get around to returning it until it was too late (Holidays, etc). Stuck with a $100 brick.
