I may never make this quilt but the book has a lot of information about applique that will be useful in other projects. The book was received quickly and in good condition.

I especially liked the directions and helpful techniques.

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of this book. I love applique.

Margaret Docherty's quilts are some of the most beautiful I've seen, and Little Brown Bird is my very favorite. The closeups of the different blocks are worth the price of the book, just for oohing and ahing, but Docherty's clear instructions and encouraging tone make the quilt seem possible even for someone who isn't an expert. One of the most helpful sections of the book concerned fabric choices, with photos of the fabrics in the quilt alongside places where they were used. It's a whole new way of looking at fabric for applique. I highly recommend this book for any quilter who loves applique.

LOVE this little book. Lots of pictures, lots of directions. I have still a "plan to use" instead of actual use and so far just enjoy perusing it, milling through it. More than a "coffee table" book but if you have company often it would be nice as that too. I plan to use it to embellish an apron ive been meaning to finish.

The book is a wonderfully designed pattern for hand applique. The entire book is devoted to the creation of one design masterpiece featuring many squares of wreaths, flowers, half square borders and birds. The overall border is exquisite and intricate. The author's patterns and directions are excellent and easy to follow. She includes a chapter on how to select fabrics to create the shadings of flowers and birds without ever being a bird or flower fabric. She teaches what to look for. The only changes I comtemplate making are redesigning some of the birds.

This is a great book for making this quilt. Docherty explains her process well and gives ample advice in how to successfully make your own Little Brown Bird quilt.

Looked like it would have been a great book but recived damaged. Hope to order one again soon.

The only applique book will ever need, it gives beginners in applique a standard to aim for and the instructions are comprehensive and easy to understand. The designs are of a traditional style so if you are into more modern designs it might not 'do' for you. I requested this from the local library and paid the inter library loan charge, I had the book in my hands for 15 minutes and knew that I had to have my copy, I will be learning from this book for years to come. The more experienced stitcher will just love the designs with full colour illustrations for each design and a template for you to use or be inspired to create your own panel using elements from M. Docherty's book. I have purchased several books on this subject and now realise that if I had purchased this one I might not have needed the others.

Been looking for a copy of this book for a while. First class condition for a pre owned book. It really is masterclass applique - excellent hints, explanations, ideas, and clear diagram of all the blocks. Very pleased with purchase.
