A good companion in a rotten situation
Like most people, I imagine, settling a parents estate was never on a list of fun things that I anticipated doing. That said it was great to have this companion on the journey. I had a lot of questions about the timeline for carrying out particular actions as well as the requirements and this book answered most of them in a way that wasn’t intimidating . Of course, no book is perfect, and this book often kind of reverted to saying this might be different in your state and suggesting that you look up the specifics for your locale.

Caught a probate lawyer off guard
Bought this because I had issues with the handling of my parents estate going through probate. I wanted to be more versed and damn did that smash a hornets nest. I now have a meeting with a firm to represent me and try to overturn the waivers I have already signed.

Lots of information
This book is big, as it needs to be. I’m still reading (in between dealing with my deceased aunt’s estate). I’m a bit frustrated because the “wills” and “trusts” information is intermingled. I have a trust from another relative to deal with also, and my mind kept jumping from one situation to the other. Nearly got whiplash. That is more likely the result of my personal situation rather than a fault of the book. Im sure as I keep reading things may sort themselves out.

Good Advice, Useful Checklists, Helpful Warnings for Administering Estates and Trusts
If you think you are going to be the executor of a loved one's estate or may need to manage a trust, this is a good beginners' book. It was not published this year, so I would doublecheck any tax advice included. The authors made it easy to determine what parts of the book apply to your situation so you don't have to read information you won't use. They identify the pitfalls of doing these jobs, provide some checklists that will enable you to avoid them, and include other checklists that could make you a more organized and efficient manager. By the time you've finished reading, you will have a basic grasp of what the law requires you to do and what documents you need to hold onto. The language is pretty accessible, but I still found my head spinning in places. For a layman like me, the best advice the book gives is, "Get advice!"

US version not UK
This is the US version!!! What a waste of time. There was nothing to indicate it wasn’t for the UK. I wish I read the past reviews properly.
