Serving As Senders: How to Care for Your Missionaries While They Are Preparing to Go, While They Are on the Field, When They Return Home

Incredible Book! It takes lots of different resourses and seems to pull them all together to make one great read. It would be helpful for ANYONE who is interested in missions. Reading it as a missionary who is trying to "teach" her small church how to do missions (from the field) and to remind the church that out of sight shouldn't be out of mind. Also realizing where everyone (including myself) has failed at doing this the right way. Yet it is giving hope that things can be turned around. This is a very good resourse. It gives examples of what each "team" member needs to be doing, and how it all affects those missionaries on the field; before, durning and after their term of service. I would recommend this book to every member of a church who wants to be mission minded! I wish I had cases of these to give out!

This book offers many insights into the needs of our missionaries and helpful advice into how we can meet their needs. We had classes at our church several years ago using this book. Those attending remarked how much they learned about what they previously didn't understand.The Pastor was especially appreciative as his daughter was preparing to become a missionary and said it opened his eyes to what he had been doing wrong. My son is a missionary and it helped me to understand the culture shock they experience each time they come home and how to help with that. Our missions committee made changes in how they ministered to the missionaries after going through the class. Very Helpful!

I bought it before my children headed to the mission field, thinking it's for the stay at home parents. The title is a misnomer. Those planning to go into the field definitely need to read it. If your church is thinking of sending (or currently supports) missionaries in the field, this book should be a "book study" for both the church board, missionary board, and small groups. Really anyone who knows someone on the mission field, or has a heart for missions. If you're "just dreaming" of going on the mission field yourself, make this your first step!

The book is old and outdated on a lot of things. (Send your missionary a letter - they'll appreciate it - LOL. I Skype with my missionary on the other side of the world!). This book brings A LOT of realization to all that goes on behind the scenes to make a cross cultural missionary successful on the field. Our lives go on like normal while those who choose to "go" change EVERYTHING. Very eye opening and this has helped me and several others here stateside successfully support a missionary to SE Asia for three years now.

As our family preps for foreign missions this book has been valuable in expressing our needs to our friends and prayer partners. Great job explaining exactly what support the missionaries will need at each level of the process.
