Worthless if you own a 70D
I was hoping to find an inexpensive solution to geotag my photos versus the ~$230 Canon GPS adapter. Unfortunately, it seems you don't even get what you pay for. The device did fine with locating satellites and determining my position, however when I plugged the cable into my 70D, the camera didn't even recognize that it was attached. That alone led me to return it.There were other issues however. The battery life is incredibly short. The one time I used this, I got maybe 3 hours of life out of it. If you typically shoot all day long, this is obviously a problem. Another issue was the hot shoe mount. While others have mentioned how flimsy it is, that wasn't the only issue I had with it. Unlike the Canon GPS, this one does not lock in place in the hot shoe. Several times in the short period that I used this, the adapter fell out of position. Finally, the required cable just seemed to get in the way for me. I could easily see it getting snagged on things with continued usage.I ended up purchasing the Canon GP-E2 instead. Yes, it is pricey, but at least it works. The battery is a single AA, easily obtainable and easily replaceable. If it dies, I can simply install another one. It also communicates directly with the camera through the hot shoe. No pesky cables needed. Configuration is straightforward, and is completed entirely within the camera. And the hot shoe connection feels solid, especially when the lock is engaged.

awesome for the price, if you like to tag your pics.
While not as compact as Canon's Gps unit, it works great.Only real downside is the fact that it HAS to use your Usb port. No hotshoe support.

Marrex MX-G10M not everything I was hoping for
I purchased this GPS unit for my Canon T4i (650D). The reason I picked the MX-G10M over the MX-G10 was because of its more advanced features, like the LCD screen and the "3-Axis Electronic Compass". I read the reviews and saw a few problems, like short battery life, flimsy hot shoe connection, and a less than stellar user manual. I was willing to work with those issues to get the compass feature, so I ordered it, and received a new unit promptly.Unfortunately, it appears that the "3-Axis Electronic Compass" that is claimed in the product description, either does not exist in this unit, or else it just does not work. Since neither the box, nor the manual mentions anything about the compass, I am guessing this unit does not actually have it.I also experienced the other problems that people have had. The hot shoe wobbles around a lot and the unit will fall off the camera just by tipping the camera up. The battery life was very bad. After charging overnight I was only able to get a couple of hours before the battery indicator showed it was drained. The manual was actually better than expected, but it was obviously written by a translation program. I've always been curious why companies put out an English manual, but refuse to have an English speaking person proof read it before publishing. Oh well, it was adequate. On the positive side, the GPS functions did work, and the unit did tag my pictures with longitude and latitude and time, even though the time was in UTC and not the Eastern time I had the unit set to. Unfortunately the compass function, when accessed in my camera menu, would hang the camera, requiring a power off reset. The function to set the camera time from the GPS also hung the camera. Obviously a communications issue there, or the GPS unit does not really have that capability. To summarize, if all you want is a device to tag your pictures with longitude/latitude and UTC time, then this unit seems to do that. Just beware that you will have to modify the hot shoe to get it to stay on the camera, the battery life is real short, so you will have to carry a portable battery charger to keep it running, and that the digital compass may not actually be included as the Amazon write up claims.

A better designed cable would do wonders
This product is OK but would be great with a few improvements. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and there are definitely some things that I am not thrilled about but the product does do what it is advertised to do. It starts up quickly and seems to acquire satellites quickly. What I am not so happy about is that the battery life seems to be rather short. I seem to be getting about 4 to 6 hours out of a full charge. I would love it if the battery lasted longer. The data cable is a poor design for this type of use. I think an angled cable would be much better as it would put less strain on the camera port and on the GPS unit. I am using this with a Canon EOS 70D and I have already broken the cable four times. I purchased this to keep track of where I photograph various birds so the lens I am using is a big telephoto lens, usually a 500mm f/4. When I set the camera down there is a tendency for it to roll over and break the end of the cable off. Even when I think I am being very careful I still have broken it. The end that is plugged into the camera just snaps right off in the socket. It is my understanding that the Canon unit is able to communicate through the hot shoe and doesn’t require a cable. This alone would be a great reason to skip this product and pay the extra money for the Canon unit and if I had it to do over again that is exactly what I would do. The other problem I have with the cable is that it is just too long and is always getting hung up on things making the camera cumbersome to use out in nature. The last issue I have with this product is that if I try to use it to set the clock on my camera it immediately loses connection. For whatever reason I am completely unable to use the feature at all on my EOS 70D which is listed as being compatible with this device. If I disable this feature everything else seems to work fine.I would love it if the unit was a little lower profile and could communicate through the hot shoe like I understand the Canon one does.

Useless! Incredibly poor, short battery life!
You have to link it up each time, and the battery life is horrible! Only last for a very short number of minutes, even if you try to use that techniques they mentioned for extending battery life. Absolutely not worth the money. I'd get a refund if I had realized this soon enough after purchasing it.
