Roz Chast Made me LOL
I love to laugh, almost more than anything in the world. This was my second-best (sorry Roz) graphic book that I received for Xmas this year, a close second to Lynda Barry's Blabber Blabber Blabber. I hear Roz Chast on NPR, and the interview had me laughing in my dark bedroom, making my family wonder what was going on. She is a down-to-earth unique human being who manages to see something funny in almost any situation. I have many of her Hatreds, too. When she spoke about Jello 1 2 3 and how it did not form into a top layer, a different colored layer and a layer of whipped cream, I thought about myself, back when I knew nothing about cooking. I was newly married. If my husband had only known that I really really did not know how to cook, he might not have married me. Our first Catolico Catholic meal was to be macaroni and cheese. I used the Betty Crocker (1960 circa) cook book, but when I bought the ingredients I got spaghetti because it said on the box, THIS IS A MACARONI PRODUCT. I was truly disappointed when the spaghetti did not puff up and break into macaroni pieces, and my husband looked at it and said, "Ah, what is this?" He has many many sad-food stories to tell as he has survived 50 plus yrs of marriage to me. Roz plucks these gems from the Universal Bank of Stupidities and makes me laugh so hard.

Unexpectedly funny and sarcastic! What a great surprise!
I am a Lynda Barry fan so someone told me I would like this book. I hadn't gotten around to reading it yet so I was going to return it but the "window" had passed and I couldn't. So..........I couldn't go to sleep last night and I got this book out while my husband was sleeping. OMG! I was laughing SO hard, tears were in my eyes! This is ME! I totally got what she was afraid of and I was laughing, really, at myself! I LOVE the art too! So perfect and just how you would imagine getting lost, elevators, flying, and I remembered being afraid to fly a kite. We must have heard the same story growing up! Very fun and funny and she conveys such a dry sense of humor! I enjoyed it very much (and my husband woke up but he was glad I was laughing)! So glad I didn't return it.

Thank You, Roz Chast!
OK, she's my favorite New Yorker cartoonist, so I was prepared to be happy when the package came in the mail. "Happy" is too weak to cover my response once I read the book in one sitting, though: Between her devilishly humorous drawings and hilarious commentary, I couldn't stop laughing--this is an artist that so connects with human anxieties that we are laughing and nodding in recognition simultaneously.I'm sorry to sound like an ad, but if "wry" (hold the "snark") is your thing, you'll be a fan, too.

too short
this was ok but not one of Roz's best pieces I have other books by her and this one was much less content than i expected.

I love it. Fun and funny
Buy this book!! I love it. Fun and funny, a great gift for someone who is hard to buy for. Roz has a subtle humor that we can all relate to, the everyday quirks that keep us afloat on dark days.

so I was delighted to add this one to my collection
I collect alphabet books, so I was delighted to add this one to my collection. Roz Chast has a wonderful way of looking at the world. Wish I could afford to own all of her books.

A quick and easy read, full of laughs
A quick and easy read, full of laughs. The inside is black and white, not color art like some of Chast's other stuff.

Great as always but black and white.
Roz Chast is my favourite cartoonist. This book is pretty short plus the illustrations ad in black and white so four start instead of five. The content is pretty funny though.

Very disappointing, in my opinion
I bought this because I love "Can't we talk about something more pleasant ? " and I read good entries here about THIS book ("What I hate"), but I'm really disappointed. It's extremely short, because for every page about a "thing she hates", you also have a nearly-blank page with a few sentences, or even a single sentence printed on it to "illustrate" the illustration, and the illustration in themselves did not seem very funny to me. It's A LITTLE funny, but... Meh. It looks like she had to create a book for the sake of some contract and she came with this idea, or maybe it's stuff she did weekly for some paper, I don't know. I still like Roz Chast, but I wish I had not bought this book.

Too short for a book
You’d need 5 minutes for the whole book.A lot of points Chast mentions are not relatable and therefore not funny.
