Remix: Decorating with Culture, Objects, and Soul

Enjoyable and educational
Enjoyed not only the beautiful homes featured but the premise of the book that a home should be a reflection of your culture and soul. You can inject the elements described in the book: color, pattern, art and cultural objects, with something as simple as a pillow. It makes a point that modern design and ethnic elements work even better together. It has inspired me to inject more modern pieces into my very ethnic home. I also learned some new things about certain ethnic elements, like about the Ndop and Kanga cloth.

I never thought I would read a book about design, but I read this from cover to cover in 2 days.
Very well written easy to understand by someone who has no knowledge of design. I opening things you can in your on home.

I like this book but
I like this book but, I don't love it. I like that the authors were able to transition from one career to the more exciting career of interior design. However, the book has a lot of writing and not enough pictures for my taste. I know I must sound like a child wanting a picture book but, that is what I was expecting with this book. I have several other interior design books and they are loaded with pictures that provide great visual ideas.

I learned of their shared love of story and history
Jeanine Hays and Bryan Mason, the husband-and-wife team behind the lifestyle brand AphroChic, have penned a vibrant home design book that engages both the mind and the heart. Speaking with them at a Pop-Up show they curated at the Helms Bakery in Culver City, California, I learned of their shared love of story and history. "Remix: Decorating with Culture, Objects, and Soul" expands upon their shared ideals with real-life case studies and gorgeous photography. For Jeanine and Bryan, every home holds a story and every room is a chapter in your life tale. Highly recommended!

Its a coffee table book but Its a good read too!
I love soul music. I love black culture. I love global and bohemian style. I love all things decor. This book touches and blends all of those elements together and displays it in such a beautiful way! I'm so happy I discovered AphroChic on Pinterest because I don't know if I would've learned of this book otherwise. If you're looking for a coffee table book for your home and you also need design inspiration this is a great choice! Its so dope! Its so phresh! I can't say enough about it! It already has a spot reserved on my coffee table right next to Gordon Parks.

Love the fact that the authors captured examples of home ...
Love the fact that the authors captured examples of home that showcased versatilty. It was refernced on Apartment Therapy. Had to have it. My personal estetic leans toward mid century modern with an emphasis on Afro centric accent pieces and art. This book is a perfect addition to my home..used for inspiration and proudly displayed as an accent piece. I hope one day to have my home visited and photographed by the authors.

Excellent Resource Guide
This book is wonderful. I loved this book and would describe it as being inspiring, tasteful, stylish, elegant, creative and fresh. I love decorating books and this book can hold it's own. Although I loved the art featured in the homes; being a lover of original art; I wish more art had been included. Please do another book showcasing more homeowners with extensive art collections. This book was also an interesting read. The resource guide was excellent.

Nice book
Pretty book, great ideas. Only reason it isn't a 5, is that the book could be a little bigger/pictures a little brighter but still really like the book.
