Liked the good condition of the book. Am planning on giving the book as a gift.

I m not sure if the average person who has not had actual training in the Parrelli system would be able to use this successfully. I'd be interested to know. I live the principles of kind and gentle handling that are critical to successful horse training

Clear and helpful.

It's basicly about stories of horse he acquired and their bios. 120 pages before you get some bits of liberty. You get about maybe 25 pages of liberty work and no in detail. And than goes back to his stories of his horses. Very disappointed, it should have a diifference title. Will return it.

If you've experienced true connection with a horse (which is probably why you are looking to get this book (!)) you'll find yourself speaking out loud, 'Yes, exactly', or at least nod, or smile to yourself, make some enthusiastic notes in the margins, note of recognition.I write that not to mean that everything is obvious in this book - far from it, but what really blows my mind with Jonathan Field's writing is that he so beautifully manages to capture a lot of that silent communication, silent insight, tacit knowledge that you feel when working with horses. I've always just felt silly when trying to explain it to non-horse-people, or "horse-people"-who-are-non-horse-people. Being a cool cowboy, Field pulls it off, and he also captures it in "feel", communication "intent".This is a book that manages to put words on that tacit wordless knowledge, without reducing it to 'only words'. It's a highly practical, pragmatic book. You could say, it's as though a horse wrote it...!Just do your horse and yourself a favor: JUST GET IT.

This book is exactly what I need to continue building my relationship with my little Mustang mare.

I am only part way through the book an my horses and I are already having a blast. Jonathan Field does and excellent job explaining all the exercises. His way of doing things is so clear and makes sense to me and my horses. I have followed many trainers over the years, I have to say Field is quickly becoming one of my favorites. He takes exercises we may already know yet he explains how to use our body language to express intent to our horse in a way I have not heard or understood before. There are many exercises we don't know, particularly leading up to liberty, they are easy to understand an fun for you and your horse. His teaching have made a world of difference in my training. I can't wait to see the results by the time I am at the end of the book! I highly recommend you get this book, you will love it!

This I'm keeping in my equine library as I look forward to implementing at least some of the teachings in the future. Although the photography is 5-star, the advice given makes full sense as well. Jonathan warns this requires much work, yet the book provides what I believe as adequate instruction for the person with the patience and resolve to achieve this level of horsemanship. To realize such communication and a level of mutual trust took much time, but the results speak volumes. I have to salute this quantum-step forward in the advancement of horsemanship while bearing in mind that it can be a true family activity, and I can sense teaching new generations these techniques with the result of horses who are happier and listen more to their owners. To gain these results through one's work and adherence has to be priceless, yet I'm fortunate to live in a time where I'm still capable of achieving the same with my future horses, then carrying some of the lessons learned into my own life.

This book came way earlier than expected. It is a gorgeous book fantastic quality, exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to start using some of these methods with my horse! Reason for 4 out of 5, the book came with a rip to the front cover. It doesn't affect the book at all, I was just a little disappointed as this will be a coffee table book and it didn't arrive in perfect shape.

Excellent book for beginner and a great reminder for the expert horseperson. The personal stories are good and the pictures are in colour and really demonstrate the techniques.
