The best!
I had had 4 of these oval dishes for about 10 years but really wanted a couple more for times entertaining more than a small group. I searched for a long time and was so happy when I found these on Amazon.com. There are two sizes that are similar but I prefer the smaller size because I serve meals in courses and the smaller size fits my needs. They are fine porcelain and mix well with formal or more casual place setting.

Excellent for microwave
I bought these as a special deal on Amazon. As stated by others they are smaller than stated. They are excellent if you want to do a quick cook of small dishes in the microwave or oven. You can do oven to table to dishwasher. They are lead free.

perfect for toaster oven
I thought CorningWare was supposed to be indestructible. So I bought a small casserole dish to reheat food in my toaster oven and stop wasting all that aluminum foil, and I broke open the instructions and it said "NOT for use in toaster oven or broiler" because it would be too close to the heating element. Could they not say this on the outside of the package? I returned it. Then I got the Pillivuyt. The 8.5 x 5 inch dish is the size of a trout. They're only one inch high, but 2 dishes fit at once in the toaster oven. PERFECT for reheating food. The ceramic does get extremely hot, so use an oven mitt. Be forewarned, this item is a 6-pack.

Very elegant.
This is well made and is elegant to look at and to behold. One can tell Pillivuyt is indeed above Apilco in quality. Amazon's great service and price makes this worth considering when looking for white ceramic bake-wares. Made in France. Recommended.
