Pillivuyt 11-1/4-Inch Small Round Porcelain Serving Platter

I love Pillivuyt products and have lots, always elegant, classic French white porcelain. This is a super versatile piece for a cake, other dessert, or appetizer platter, many uses. Glad I got it.

Primarily I was after a flat platter. These Pillivuyt platters are flat but with a slight lip (1/8" - 3/16") lip around the very perimeter. This lip was a bonus to me as it it small enough to allow one to slide baked pies or cakes onto the platter without cracking and the perimeter lip contains some of the crumbs that eventuate when cutting! The platter is thin and elegant as much as a platter could be. Also it is microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher compatible. It is a robust platter being made from "whatever" and is almost immune from chipping and the surface does not scratch easily. I am a Pillivuyt "fan" and have a number of their products which I have been using for over 25 years. Their "stuff" is expensive and there may well be other equally good products out there at a cheaper price. For me I just stick to the brand I know and suffer the price. It is not as though you purchase these items every month.

I loved my original one. It's heat and cold tolerant, but not drop-on-the-ceramic-tile-floor tolerant. I so liked it that I had to replace the one that succumbed to my clumsiness. If I had the storage room I'd get all three sizes.

I use this for presenting my baked goods,mainly cakes. Its a very good quality piece and I want to purchase the other two bigger sizes.You can never go wrong with Pillivuyt pieces.I own other serving platters by the same brand and every time I bring them to the table during entertaining I get rave reviews.

This plate is very versatile. I bought it mainly because it is flat and makes a great cake plate. I also use it for fruit and this plate fits 12 standard size cupcakes. Because this plate is absolutely flat, it is also great for spreading filling on a crepe.

Very nice and simple platter. A little expensive though; this is why I deducted one star.

Was the perfect size for what I needed, and it looks great. Just can't believe I paid that much for a plate.

A tray without a flat bottom is nearly worthless. I am glad this tray exists. I am glad everything is not yet plastic, or from China.
