Worth the time to assemble.
We've had these chairs for about a week and LOVE them. They are comfortable, beautiful, sturdy, and not too heavy. I was concerned about the weight of the char since I'm not as strong as I used to be, but these are perfect. I've been searching for the perfect set of chairs to match my antique table for years. These fit the bill. I'm going to buy 2 more for when we have extra company.Yea, it took me a while to put them together - nearly 3 hours for 4 chairs. But I'm not as strong or energetic as I once was. Assembly was simple and all you really need is a Philips-head screwdriver. Having an Allen wrench bit for your screwdriver is helpful, but not necessary. The chairs come with the Allen wrench. Some folks have noted issues with the chairs being off balance after assembly. I figured out how to avoid this. My first was off kilter a bit so I removed the seat, loosened all the screws just a bit, placed the chair on a hard surface floor, set the seat back into position (not fastening it), and sat myself down nice and firm. The chair adjusted itself nicely. All I had to do then was carefully remove the seat and turn the chair over without disturbing it's adjustment. I turned it over and sat it on top of my table so the seat would be on a level surface while I was working on it. The same way you'd place it if you were moping floors. Then I was able to tighten all the screws and attach the seat without disturbing the adjustment I had just made for leveling. I followed this procedure for the three other chairs and they were all level. Just be careful not to loosen the screws too much. A half turn should be enough. You don't want to compromise the strength of the chair your about to drop bottom onto.

Sturdy; good customer service from Amazon for shipping damage
I purchased 3 sets of 2 chairs, and one of the seat bottoms was broken in half due to shipping damage like other reviewers mentioned. Amazon sent a replacement quickly with no shipping charges; I just needed to drop the damaged set off to the UPS store with a prepaid shipping label.Note: The Amazon order details suggested contacting the furniture company directly for repair/service which was wrong. The furniture company sent me back to Amazon, as they don't deal directly with customers, they only deal directly with retailers like Amazon.I was a little confused when assembling the first chair. I didn't realize that there were two separate bags of hardware (one per chair), and the drawing only showed half of the screws. Once I found the second hardware bag, it was simple. Assembly was also much easier and quicker when my husband brought out the power drill with the screwdriver attachment; I strongly recommend using one, especially since there were no pilot holes for the wood screws. These chairs are very sturdy and I expect them to hold up very well; not bad at all for the price ($102 for a set of two). They'll definitely handle 300+ pounds as advertised. No squeaking or wobbling like our old chairs. We'll be adding some of the nail-on furniture glides like we've done with our other kitchen chairs so they slide more smoothly on the tile.

We certainly like the finished product and consider it a good value
We certainly like the finished product and consider it a good value. (We purchased 8 chairs). However, packaging is very poor. Ordered 2 chairs at first to evaluate, and they arrived with corners poking through the box. Damage was slight & we decided to keep them & order 6 more. Second order arrived and 2 boxes (of 2 chairs each) we damaged bad enough that the delivery driver strongly advised not to accept them. We kept 1 box with minor holes in it and no serious damage to chairs. The 2 boxes of 4 chairs were replaced and both arrived with corners of chairs poking through the boxes again. However, damage was very slight & we decided, for the good price, to keep them.Assembly was not difficult, but 3 corner connections split before I decided to glue & clamp a hidden reinforcing piece of wood before assembling the remaining chairs. After the modification, I had no more problems and they appear to be quite sturdy chairs, and look good in our kitchen.

Excellent chairs. Easy assembly. Don't listen to the whiners.
If you are 80 years old and your knuckles are swollen then you have no business putting chairs together anyway. So don't leave a bad review because you couldn't use an Allen key.The chairs were easy to put together. My 10 year old son helped. I used a small battery powered DeWalt with a hex bit and a Phillips bit. Put some gorilla wood glue in the holes before you put the pieces together. All of the screws can be put in with the drill 100%. When putting the washers for the bolts in, make sure that the curve of the washer goes with the curve of the wood. (Round peg in round hole concept). The bolts will go in about 90% with the drill and finish up with the hex key nice and snug. It took us about an hour to put 6 of them together and they are very sturdy. No gaps in the pieces. No wobbly parts. No problems at all. Minus oneOne of the side rails that the seat sits on had a crack. So when the screw was tightened down the wood split. No fault of the product. Just the wood. Unfortunately it left me with 5 perfect chairs and 1 with a suspect seat rail that I assume will be just fine after the glue dries and sets up. No weight sits on that particular spot and there is another bolt, a wooden dowel, and gorilla wood glue 1" away from it. So I don't see it ever being an issue. The shipping could have been better. Mine came in boxes shown in the pictures. 2 chairs per box. 3 boxes total. But nothing for protection really. The edges of the boxes were tearing and if they had to ship any further I would be worried about them staying together. In all, 7 pieces of wood. 4 big screws for the leg stabilization bars under the seat rails. 4 small screws for the seat. 8 bolts and washers for the seat rails and legs. And youre done. Anyone can put these together. Even my 10 year old.
