Intriguing Shifter Tale
Hunger Moon is the second book of the Norse Werewolf series, Loki's Wolves, by Melissa Snark. I didn't read the first book, so I can say with some authority that Hunger Moon works as a standalone. There weren't too many moments when I found myself scratching my head wondering what was going on and those moments faded as I worked my way deeper into the book.Victoria Storm is alpha for her pack. She's devastated because she's having a hard time keeping them alive. Beset from many sides, they deal with threats to their survival. A Norse goddess sends Victoria to a small town in the low Sierra area of northern California to find a particular man.Arik Koenig, the man Victoria is sent to find, isn't exactly the perfect fellow. He has a number of problems including his arrogant son, a dead wife likely murdered by that same son, and a few other issues to boot.Watching Victoria wend her way through multiple obstacles was an interesting journey, as was the placement of Norse gods and werewolves side-by-side. There are other iterations of supernatural characters, too, reminiscent of some of Neil Gaiman's stories. A majority of paranormal romance readers would find this story quite readable, although it might have a shade too much violence for some.

4.5 stars rounded up
Since I can't give 4.5, I rounded up. It took me some time to get into the story, but as I have said before, I've been reading more novellas lately since they are quicker and to the point. Once I got about 1/4 into the book, I did not want to put it down.I felt for Victoria and her pack, and her need to do whatever was necessary for their survival. The dynamics between Victoria, Arik and Logan had me wondering...Wondering "what?" you might ask. It's hard to write a review without giving the story away, but lets just say that the ending I was hoping for did not happen (not a negative, just a fact) and so I hold out hope that Ms Snark will bring back a certain dark wolf in the next book.A word to future readers, this takes place in the present. When I read the blurb, I was under the impression it took place someplace in the past...guess I focused more on the "Valkyrie" and "priestess" than the "Urban" in Urban Fantasy.

Melissa Snark rocks!!!
OMG! Melissa Snark you rock! Victoria Storm is my Goddess!!! She is just the awesomest heroine ever. I absolutely can't get enough of her. She has all the qualities that make her the perfect mc. She's a strong, smart, flawed, courageous, sexy, guilt conflicted, healer, Valkyrie and Priestess of Freya wolf pack Alpha. Imo the men in this story are all secondary, it is all about Victoria. No matter what she just keeps coming, never giving up whatever the situation. This book is full of action, dangerous situations, angst, loss conflict, honor, and a no cliffhanger ending that has left me itching for the next book in the series. Sigh, this was so worth the time invested to read it. If you love a great shifter book with a kickass heroine and great storyline then this book's for you.

Awesome Series!
Oh my gosh! Such a great series! Yes, read them in order like I did starting with Hunters Mark. Ms. Snark knows how to ensnare her reader in a storyline by keeping you guessing as to what comes next. You just never know, what, where or who it's going to happen to, absolutely crazy but I cannot get enough. You cannot help but feel her characters heartfelt hope, despair or whatever feeling her characters have at the moment. Highly recommend but definitely start at the beginning otherwise you loose too much background information. And yes I'm on to the next one Battle Cry, because there is no way you can read just the first chapter or sample without wanting more!

Shifter series
Victoria and her pack have found a strong alpha and might finally have a safe refuge from the hunters that decimated the pack and have been chasing the very few survivors. This story is not a typical HEA story about a human that turns wolf, girl meets boy and he rescues her. This story is of a strong alpha female wolf that changes to human. Yes, she does seek a strong male alpha for the good of the pack and because Freya has sent her to him. Freya you ask? Yes. Victoria is a nurse but she is also a healer, a medium, a Valkyrie and a priestess of Freya.A fresh telling of a shapeshifter's life and trials. I plan on following this series to its conclusion.

Such a enthralling story! Could not put it down!
I was not disappointed! I greatly admire the way the book is written, such a compelling story. I enjoy watching Victory grow into her power as Alpha. As I read I learned more of her talents, her go-gettem attitude, and her loyalty. This is such a poor review for such an awesome book. There were twists and turns I didn't expect but shocked (in a good way), alpha males on the make, and such trickery! I absolutely enjoyed every minute, so much so I had to read it in the shower(TMI). I am dying for the second book! I highly recommend reading them in series. Beautiful job and great talent! Melissa will be one to watch!

Life and deaths await in The Hunger Moon
Excellent. I couldn't stop reading . Victory is unshakable in her quest for her mate Arik is dominate and alpha . She's unable to relinquish her role as alpha even for her mate , so the give and take is awesome. Enter Logan . Son of Arik and he has bitterness in his soul. Determined not to make things easy on Vic , as he calls her , ends up being a quest to bring him home . This is a must read to continue the series. No spoilers here but get this series.

A story packed with excitement!
Victoria. Her father nicknamed her Victory as a child - because she demolished any obstacle in her path with unrelenting determination. This current path is obstacle-laden!Victoria finds a mate. Introducing Arik and Logan Koenig. There are great sacrifices made, an evil witch to overcome.I don't know where to turn, what to expect next...their lives are fraught with danger. And we still haven't really dealt with the threat from the hunters! This book is packed with so much excitement, it's hard to put down!

Hunting the Moon
I liked book 1 in this series and thus bought the next but I found this book had just too much blood, gore, and battle to make me interested in what happened next. Found Hunter Jake Barrett was an interesting character with his ability to control Nordic magics.I have read book 1 in this series and found this one not quite as good – hence not purchasing book 3.3.5 stars
