Nicer than the cheaper kits with hose clamps
I like not having to use a hose clamp that will snag on things in the future. This looks much nicer. The new end seems leak free where it connects to the hose. Where it connects to the nozzle, on the other hand, required several wraps of plumber's tape around the threads to reduce the leakage there to a trickle. I suppose that might be a problem with my new nozzle, it's hard to tell. I wish the new end had another turn or two of threads. It would be nicer if the thin knurled portion were larger, since that's where you need to grip when screwing a nozzle onto (or off of) the end. It's too easy to accidentally twist the portion that clamps the end to the hose.(I, too, regret forgetting to wear gloves after reading the reviews, but it went together easily.)

Easy install & No Leaks
I love this repair connector for my hose. I’ve used at least 3 other styles over the years and this is the best! I assembled it with a small screwdriver to help push the hose into the ring. Also used small channel-lock pliers on the knurled part of the brass end. All the other hose menders I’ve used have leaked somewhat right away. This one doesn’t.

Easy to install, no leaks
It was fairly easy to install. It does take some force, though. My hose is a relatively thick kind that is kink resistant so it probably was more difficult than if you have an ordinary cheap vinyl hose. It was easy once I got out some plyers and a vice grip. The metal seems pretty good quality, and the hole is big enough not to reduce flow. The only negative is that some of the edges are not properly deburred and I got a pretty decent cut. So definitely don't be dumb like me and put on some work gloves that are cut resistant and have good grip. On the plus side, the burr was so sharp that it didn't hurt much and made a fine cut that healed quickly. But it could have been worse if I had gripped it harder. But not a problem once assembled, so I did take any stars away for it.

Works perfectly!
I used this on a Craftsman lifetime heavy duty rubber hose. It takes a bit of force, but if you can find the strength to do it, you'll be extremely happy. I am a large, strong man and it took me about 3 minutes with no pliers and no gloves. I will definitely be buying more since I own about 10 other hoses as well.

Beware
I read the previous reviews before I purchased the connector, which warned to wear gloves when connecting to the hose. When the item came, I forgot about the reviews. After I connected it, I had quite a few places on my hand that were burning from the tiny cuts.Make sure you tighten the two parts of the connectors. I didn’t tighten it enough and when I went to take off the nozzle, the half attached to the nozzle was turning with it. (Again forgot the gloves when I first went to tighten it, but then quickly remembered.)Once the connector is properly attached to the hose, it works very well. In the past, I would have replaced the whole garden hose because the end got dented and caused a leak at the nozzle connection. This is a much more affordable option.

Better than OEM fittings.
I have tried many different hose repair fittings over the years, mostly unsuccessfully. This item was easy to install and is totally leak proof. It is very sturdy and I believe it could be removed and reused in the future.

Works but dangerous
I got this item to repair the end of my hose that I had to cut off because I couldn’t remove the nozzle. Using the hot water technique on both the end of the hose and the plastic piece inside the metal fitting, I was able to attach this to the end of my heavy duty hose quickly, and it seems to hold well so far, even under pressure. However, I wanted to note that the brass edges are extremely sharp and I got two cuts on my fingers, like paper cuts, when I tried to screw things together. Because of this, I would strongly recommend using garden gloves when screwing the two pieces together at the end of your hose.

Easy to overtighten and crack
I purchased this to repair a medium weight hose before the house sitter arrived for vacation. No problems installing but when I was tightening it down with a pair of pliers, the collar cracked. I might have worked but I will not know now. The part appears to be brass but where it broke was at the well of the last thread cut. I measured that thickness at 0.019in. With only 19 thousandths of an inch of metal be careful when you tighten.
