Melissa & Doug Eraser and Chalk Set With 24 Chalk Sticks and Wood-Handled Felt Eraser

I like the chalk. The colors are nice, the writing quality is good, and the pieces are soft with a very small grit, not chunky like with some sidewalk chalks, which would scratch a chalkboard. The eraser is a good size and good quality. The white chalk arrived with a couple of broken pieces, but the softer colored chalk arrived with almost every piece broken. They would likely have gotten broken with use anyway, but who wants to present someone with a new, fun gift, just to see it fall out of the box in bits? I called the company's number from the box right away, and a live human person answered the phone, listened to my concerns, and immediately offered to replace the chalk. I trust this company and I was impressed with their customer service, so I would buy this item again. I would just be prepared for broken pieces if it has been handled roughly in a warehouse or dropped during packaging or shipping. You never can tell. Overall, we play with the chalk every day and enjoy it regardless of the size of the sticks.

The chalk eraser is very good quality, and erases the chalkboard very well. The chalk pieces (12 white and 12 colored) are very nice and write easily. There were a few broken in half when we opened the boxes, but that is fine because it for little hands. The product looks exactly as pictured. I will buy Melissa and Doug chalk again for sure.

This chalk is nearly dustless and I have no problem letting my 3 year old play with it in the house on her chalk board. A few pieces have broken as she plays with it, but that is to be expected with 3 year olds and chalk! I was pleasantly surprised at the very little amount of dust and the fact that not all have broken yet! Great product.

*Update - 11/22/2013*: When I first ordered it, I was disappointed it was broken, but when a toddler is the main user of the chalk, it just gets broken anyway and the smaller pieces are easier for his little hands to draw. I'm upping my review to 4 stars (from 3) because it has been a really good product and held up well against a 21 month old and his daily chalkboard use. This set is still going 3 months later (though we need to order another pack soon).The chalk itself is pretty good. A little dusty when writing and erasing, but good. Unfortunately, all of the chalk was broken when it arrived. There was very little protection for the packaging in the box, so it must have gotten knocked around with the other items. We can still use it, but it would have been nice to get it still together. I probably wouldn't order again.

Great purchase :) Yes some of the chalk was broken, but it ends up broke anyways (actually the white chalk was 100% not broken, the volored was broken into 2 or three peices each, but who cares? My kids & I don't lol). The eraser doesn't work that great, but we have the contact paper chalkboards on the kids walls for them to draw on so it may work better on a more traditional chalkboard. Overall A+++ product

I agree with other reviewers that finding chalk at local retailers isn't as easy as I thought. But, of course, Amazon has plenty to choose from! The white box of chalk pieces came crumbled, not just broken. The colored chalk came completely intact, so I don't think it was a rough shipping issue. The colored chalk shows up nicely on the Ikea easel we have, and the eraser cleans it away better than I actually expected. When I called the number on the back of the Melissa and Doug box about the broken chalk, the customer service was excellent! An actual person answered the phone on the second ring, she was polite and apologetic, and a new box is on its way to me, free of charge. I am sure, they are taking a loss on my purchase, as shipping chalk that only costs a few dollars twice, can't make much for the company, but they were more than happy to make the situation right. I can't remember the last time a customer service issue was handled easily -- in less than 3 minutes no less! Thank you M&D!

We love Melissa & Doug product. Amazon did not take care of the product and the chalk came broken but I called Melissa & Doug directly and no problem at all are shipping new product to us directly so it won't be damaged. We also bought their magnets sets and plan to buy more products them. Great quality products with great service to boot says a lot about a company!

I am so happy with this chalk and eraser. I was looking for some dustless chalk locally but couldn't find any. I was also looking online at some school supply stores and couldn't find any thing with color. I loved the package deal here that also included the wood/felt eraser. My kids are so happy about the colorful chalk and I am happy to be able to erase my wall with a good quality eraser. The dustless chalk is much easier on my floors as it doesn't make such a mess that gets ground down into the surfaces if I don't keep it absolutely clean when drawing on our chalk board wall.

Is soft and the color are very nice the only problem is that when I opened the box of chalk (both colores and white ) the chalk was all broken and if you press a little to hard when writing it falls apart so you end up with little things that are not useful

It is a good set had it been intact. Most of the chalk arrived broken - I assume due to shipping. As my daughter was quite eager to start drawing we did not bother to return the item.
