Take the Stairs: 7 Steps to Achieving True Success

I can't recommend it enough. It is awesome and yes, life changing!
Life changing material? It sounds terribly cliche but I am going to have to say Amen to that! I was stuck in a rut and had no idea how to pull myself out until my husband gave me this book. It literally slapped me awake and now has me pursuing my dreams that I had thought were basically impossible and all because I hadn't had certain things explained to me in such a simple yet penetrating way. Rory really makes you feel like he understands everything that has held you back in a very friendly way, yet he shows you how by simply changing your way of looking at things, how you can actually be the person you want to be.I could write a review for days on this book and how it changed my life but I don't want to bore you. I basically started telling everyone around me to read it. I even told the 22 year old kid that worked at the genius bar at a Mac store to please pick it up. Had I read this book back in college I would be in such a different place right now!-Rory picks up tips and ideas from classics such as 7 Habits from highly successful people and pin points the essence of all of these books. It's like a cliff notes of all of the best selling "How to be successful".-Great easy to read tone that doesn't annoy you or make you feel like a snobby "told you so" type person-When you finish it, you will want more. There is a second book that follows, "Procrastination on purpose", but keep this one on your night stand and reread the parts that you need to work on.

Awesome Advice with Sound Principles
I saw Rory Vaden in Kuala Lumpur, First International Toastmasters Conference outside of the US. I had just walked up the 250 stairs at Badu Caves. The gentlemen w/me from Texas were huffing and puffing way behind me. I am 75 and yet I knew that I could climb the stairs w/o a problem. I am a triathlete and I had put the principles to work in training since I was 36 years of age and had gotten into marathoning. This activity helped me realize that I could do anything w/time and patience and discipline. Then I went to hear Rory Vaden and he reinforced what I believed. When I got home I purchased this book to reinforce in my mind that I am still a viable individual at 75 and I still can accomplish significant things in the future. Primarily becoming a better speaker, mentor and taking these talents w/my platform of health to others. The person I would like to share this book with is: Shawn Smith, a Vet in my Toastmasters Club #6918 who has PTSD. I am the President of this club of 70 members and want to use the metaphor of the Badu stairs in giving my speech about my time in Kuala Lumpur. Great book Rory! I believe in it. I have lived these principles in my life as Geophysicist, putting together the Corporate Cup Relays at ARCO Oil and Gas Company, running NY City marathon, running Boston, cycling across the US in 2003 w/CrossRoads Cycling Adventures in 50 days, cycling the S. Island of N.Z. in 2005, and again cycling across the US in 2006 and down the east coast in 2008 from Portland, ME to Daytona Beach, FL. Each time raising money for the Hollis Marshall Memorial Scholarship Fund that I set up when my late husband passed away from Alzheimer's in 2001. Training, persistence, discipline and ACTION make it happen. Where do I go from here? Gave me plenty to think about. Judy Marshall, DTM, President of Woodlands TM Club #6918.

helpful for any goal you want to achieve.
I first saw this book on Amazon and it had all great reviews. I kept thinking this was a book that would help people who were trying to be successful in business and I thought that maybe it wasn't for me. But after reading the first few pages on the preview I knew I had to get it. This isn't just a book about business goals but about ALL life goals we want to achieve. We human beings are natural problem solvers. When we don't let ourselves have challenges and put forth the effort we need to in life, it causes depression. That is what as Rory Vaden describes as a "escalator" type of life will do to us. We don't "Take the Stairs". We don't present ourselves with the challenges it takes to get what we really want in life. This book is an excellent framework and starting point to rearrange your life and start working towards your potential. What I love about this book is that Rory isn't telling you something that is a long hidden mystery. There's no "special" secret to success that some people have access to. We ALL have it inside of us. This book will just help open your eyes to the ways you are hindering yourself. And it helps provide focus for you, and a way to structure your goals. After reading this book was I instantly cured? Of course not. Because what I learned from this book is that this isn't an easy process. It takes time and a real change of your habits. But this book has stayed with me. I think about it constantly when I want to do something easy instead of something harder that will lead me to my goals. I'm not there but I'm on my way.

Take the stairs and get out of procrastination
Rory Vaden does a great job of simplifying how to get after your dreams and start making things happen for you in life. The five F's are a great start and help you focus on what is important in your life to ultimately achieve success. At times the book felt repetitive or almost like you were at a live talk but overall the main points were presented well.

This book is great!
Love the idea, and I'm diving in now, but all the bonuses he included and engaging with it is already valuable by itself!

Lift is out of order
Incredible. Why have I not come across this book sooner? His philosophy of "taking the stairs" literally may alter many of your conceptions on what it takes to be successful. Work hard and smart, with a consistent effort, and knowing which season of your life you're in, you can win.

Pleased.
I am pleased that this book exists. Honestly following the guidance of Rory Vaden won't guarantee success in your life, but by not following you will sure not accomplish success.

You should read this, worth every rupee you spent !!
One of the books which need to be part of the school curriculum with 7 habits. There are multiple times simple concepts take a lifetime to understand. There is nothing new, but many things in a very structured manner. Will recommend one and all, to read it once; then try implementing it in your daily routine. Some excellent contents, and an excellent read. One of the few books which can keep you engrossed from first till last page - the energy does not drop.
