Air Lift 88215 LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Suspension Kit

Installed this air bag kit on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. For some reason, I assume it was a bolt on kit but it did require drilling the frame rails for mounting holes. Bolts on the driver's side were hard to install because the fuel tank is right behind the frame rail. Plumbing the air lines was very easy. Installation instructions were good but could use better pictures. The pictures were old and grainy. The performance was impressive though. With a 1,500 lb slide in truck camper on the back, 40 psi brought the truck right back up to ride height. The air bags seem very quality compared to others I've seen. The ride is pretty harsh with air pressure in the bags and no load. Thankfully the "Ultimate" air spring kit comes with bump stops so I can drain the air bags completely out when not needed.

Well worth the money and not that hard to install. Works great for a cab-over camper. I decided to keep it simple and not install one of the optional compressor kits since I already carry a small two-stage compressor. Honestly you could probably air these up quickly with just a bicycle pump because the total volume inside the bag really isn't that much.FYIThe elbow connectors must be leak tested with soapy water. Do yourself a favor: when running the air lines, make sure that there isn't any lateral pressure, in any direction, on the elbow connectors or they will leak. Leave yourself a little extra line whenever possible because getting a clean square cut on the lines is very important...or they will leak.

I bought this to aid in keeping my 04 F350 level while transporting a load. I tow a trailer and also transport a portable welder, torches, steel and anything else a welder would need for work . These air bags do a terrific job at performing as advertised. I did opt for the on board compressor which I am glad for. Installation was a bit of a challenge, not so much for the actual air bags, but for interior mounting which consisting of the the gauge, switch and air release button. I wanted it to appear as if it were factory. I accomplished this by dismantling the Airlift gauge and release valve buttion assembly and next, using a 2" hole saw and boaring a hole in the plastic bezel on the dash on the right side of stearing column. The air release valve directly next to the gauge. The switch was mounted where the pedal adjustment option switch would be. it looks like ford designed this air bag control installation after all was said and done. I recommend this product to anyone looking to improve the ride while moving cargo. A very nice product indeed.

Bags work great. However the rail brackets attached to the frame were in the way of mounting space, so I had to improvise some. I had to make some shims, some spot welds, and drill additional holes that would work best for me. It turned out to be quite the project, but that was because the rail brackets were in the way. If there had been no rails installation would've been a breeze. If you're buying for towing a fifth wheel make sure those brackets are not going to be in the way. I'm a mechanic by trade. Had I not have had access to shop, and tools it would've been a mess.

Turned an already great driving truck into a fantastic tow truck for my travel trailer. My Dodge 2500 was already great, but now with the ability to adjust the air-springs for level towing its fantastic. Installation, while simple and well explained does require some time, so schedule accordingly.

First side took 2 hrs, other side took 1hr. Fit was good, all required hardware was present. Buy a premium 3/8" drill bit - I had to drill 6 holes in the frame (8 required-2 exsisting). I would rate install difficulty at a 3 on a 1-10 scale (1=easy). I have not had a chance to try them yet but am confident they will keep the headlights from lighting up tree tops when I have a load of firewood in the back.Update 3/27/16: Still working as advertised, no issues so far. Bought a compressor and installed in the console between the front seats. Installed a pressure gauge and push button switch to activate the compressor there too. 10-15psi unloaded is all I ever need to level the heaviest loads (pressure will increase to 20-30psi loaded)

Super easy to install I paired it with the viair ultra duty compressor system. Even with the 8 pack springs the truck still would squat hauling machines but not anymore

Took a little longer to install then I anticipated, but not too hard. decided to shorten original spring u bolts so that I would not have to use included spacer for the lower mounting bracket. I could have just used the spacer, but decided it would be a cleaner install this way.

The system is now up and running. It was an effort to install the top plates, yet now all is well. I do feel a little rise in the truck empty and running 10 lbs. of air, yet I feel that will settle once wieght is applied.
