Decent but expensive to run
Does the job on our 10ft pool; kids can now enjoy it again without shivering uncontrollably instantly. Took the pool from 14c - 27c in about 20 hours so it's not the quickest, but that is using the bog standard pump that came with the pool (I expect a better pump would get substantially more throughput so would be quicker). It's expensive to run, and the electrics do get hot (make sure you get an extension able to manage 3kw and that it's completely unwound if you need one), but it does the job and is making the pool a lot more useable for a lot longer, so is worth it.

It's good but.....
Right first off, this heater is actually very good depending on ambient temperature of the water and also the weather. The other thing is you will need to upgrade your pump / filter to get the best out of this, in most cases. If your using the pump / filter that came with your pool, then it won't be good enough. You need to be realistic. If it's a cold day then your probably not going to get a nice warm pool unless it's running for hours with a decent pump / filter. I have a 10 ft pool with an upgraded pump that will shift 3000 litres per hour. That works great with the heater. A nice warm flow of water under decent pressure into the pool. It warms the pool up nicely. I can't stress enough how important it is to upgrade your filter / pump. If you get this right then it really is worth it. If your expecting this to work with your standard pump supplied with the pool when you bought it then you'll be disappointed. Don't go too high with the litres per hour on your upgrade either as the water will flow out of the heater quicker than it can heat the water and again you'll be disappointed. For a 12ft pool or smaller then around the 3000l per hour mark is ideal.

Time it takes to reach a nice temperature
This heater is ok, just be aware it does take an age for it to fully heat the pool(around 24-30 hours) it also costs a lot to run and you will need a decent pump. Also watch out for that increase in electricity bills.

Dangerous Pool Heater
I have a Bestway 10’ pool, thought I’d get a Heater, worst mistake I’ve ever made, things were ok,left it on overnight, lovely and warm in morning, then things started to go very bad ,very quickly, went to switch off at the kitchen plug….”BANG”when I did switch it off,why did it do that, very unsafe and unstable, especially electric and water, got in touch with supplier, not much help, what a waste of space, they don’t tell you that you need an electrician to sort out a extra switch just for your pool heater to run on,please DO NOT BUY …”DANGEROUS “,they should NOT be SOLD,these is from a company who sells Bestway pool accessories,DO NOT BUY,shouldn’t be allowed to sell items what could KILL PEOPLE,just so they make abit of money from the sale,BE WARNED

Great heater for pool
I hope this is useful to those considering buying. We have Pro Max 10ft round pool and bough the heater last year and hardly used it due to the hot weather. This year different story. We also now have a smart meter fitted so can see true cost. The pool has remained unheated during July and the average temp was about 17 degrees so the pool temp has settled. It was too cold to get in and so I put this heater on at 11pm and ran it for 24 hours. The cost of this worked out at £9 (EoN supply) and the pool was perfect at lunch time the following day. I kept the pool cover on for the whole time of heating the pool and this works a treat to hold in the heat. All of us and the grand kids got in today and the outside temp is about 17 degrees still. I would recommend this for those special times when you can have real pool day. If the outside temp was higher the pool would hold this heat for longer. Overall very satisfied with equipment and cost

Dissatisfied
Well after reading all the reviews, I took the plunge and got one, what a waste of money, we have a 10ft round pool, took days to get warm and the cost of running this thing was huge, the instructions are not very clear and had to go to youtube to see how to set it up, you cannot have it switched on while in the pool, the temperature took the chill of the water, I think this maybe ok for a smaller pool, but for me the cost of electricity and the amount of heat you get is not worth the purchase.

Above expectations !
I purchased this last summer along with the pool ofcourse. Only got round to using it this year. After reading some of the issues on the reviews, I was cautious.First and foremost, I made sure that the hose connections were facing the house as I do not have an outdoor socket.I plugged the pump into a different socket to the heater, using a shorter lead for the heater. Once these were plugged in to different circuits in the house, I turned the pump on for 10 minutes. All good. Then the heater went on. You have to click the test button in the lead itself. A code appeared on the unit itself (E3) and I thought.. . Here we go. Then you press and hold the 'on' button on the unit itself for 2 seconds. It beeps. Hey presto. The code disappeared and the unit showed 'On'I was so relieved!Keeping an eye on it an in the plugs on the extension lead, all was well. I purchased a water thermometer and that showed it was warming up nicely.Later that evening, I heard a beeping from the heater. It looked like there were air bubbles trapped in the hoses, so I unscrew the top of the pump which releases some of the pressure. Water will seep out, ofcourse. With the pump slightly open,I wiggled the hoses to dislodge the air bubbles into the pool. It worked.I am so pleased with it. I highly recommend this heater!
