Garrett Metal Detectors at Pro Headphone Adapter

These were perfect for my need at this time.

I was so pleased to see that Garrett came out with an adapter for their detectors. There are so many smaller lighter headphones and now even the earbuds out there, but with Garrett's proprietary plug-in you couldn't hook them up unless you hard-wired another arrangement. This adapter is perfect! I did purchase separately a set of universal detector earbuds that came with an 1/4" to 1/8" adapter; as well as a volume control unit to connect in-between. This turned out to be a simple arrangement and I can now detect in comfort without the sweaty headphones! I highly recommend that you purchase this adapter even if you don't necessarily need it now, it will come in useful later if you want freedom of head/ear devices!

I like the fact this was an OEM part that has a good chance of working right with no issues.

The only thing that I don't like about Garrett is the headphone jack. I ordered the adapter and it installed easily. Works great, just keep in mind that it is a 1/4 inch receiver, so if you want to use ear buds or anything like that, you will need a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter.

I absolutely love this item for metal detecting! Being untethered or detached from the detector is awesome. I could never go back to using headphones that are connected to the detector. They do "hickup" once in awhile but it's less than 1% of the time. Both pieces recharge very quickly and I've yet to run out of power in a day. The earphones are also small and just fit over the center of your ear rather than completely covering your ears and that means they'll be great/cooler for warm weather detecting.

I ordered this back in April of last year and tried it once when I got it with a bluetooth transmitter. Decided against the transmitter and put it away in a bag and left it in my glove compartment. Today I received a pair of Gray Ghost headphones so I took out this cable, hooked it all up and turned on the detector and the sound was coming from the built in speaker. I disconnected it to see what was going on and the cable pulled out with the pins still inside the jack. I had read that they were cheaply made but I thought I'd take a chance...Looks like I got a bad one. Now how do I contact the seller for a replacement or refund? Or do I go right to Garrett?
