The owner's manual for our propane tank fueled patio firepit specified using very large fireglass (minimum 3/4").I found a place in the midwest that sells an inexpensive sample pack and ordered a couple pieces in the blues, black, and raindrop to see how they looked. I was thinking about mixing colors but ended up ordering just the raindrop. I like the way the light from the flame refracts inside the clear glass and adds a nice glow to our firepit. The dark blue and black only reflect the light. As other reviewers have noted, the dark blue is very dark and difficult to distinguish from the black in low light. It's not the bright, royal blue that it appears to be in images here.Of the two bags (20 lbs) I received, there were a few pieces that might be broken. They have hard but not sharp edges on them and they are not smaller than the other pieces by more than a mm or so. It may be a manufacturing defect. It's not noticeable when the fire is going.

I've had these in my fire pit for about a year, which I used about 2-3 times a month. While they look great, in cleaning out the firepit today, I discovered that about a third or more of the pieces had broken. I never had any explode while it was lit, but they definitely will crack over time. If you don't mind some cracking, I think these will work well, but if you have a fire pit/table where the stones will be showing prominently, I might look for something more durable.

Great item, even sizing and nothing broken in shipping- amazing that glass can withstand the abuse of hot and cold. My wife arranged the glass "Red White and Blue" in a circular pattern- amazing effect after dark-- I recommend these as I have bought 3 different colors with the same results.

I did not like how these are so dark they look black and I cannot see the blue color when the flames are lit.

I'm finding that every time I use the gas fire pit, later on after cooling, I'm finding glass chunks with fractures and pieces breaking off. If I had wanting the "cut glass" look, I would have bought that. It would appear this product isn't as heat resistant as you would expect.anyone know of a fire glass that wont break?

I love the glass but this price isn't competitive. I bought one 10lb container at a local hardware store for 37 plus taxes but I need 3 more and they only had the one so I'm out on the internet looking. I think I'll order at the store - they said it would take six weeks. Added note: I found 3 more 10 lb jugs for 30 bucks incl shipping and taxes, out on the internet. Keep looking - I can't remember the website - it might have been the manufacturer in Utah, I think, "Deco Glass". Point is: you can save money if you look around. You'll need four 10 pound jugs to fill in a good sized fire pit so shopping around can save some real bucks.
