Good bowls, some difficulty with the lids
Like many people, I have an old collection of old Tupperware bowls, some purchased and some inherited, or simply kept by accident after being loaned by others who insist that I take food home in them after some event. Over the years, some of these bowls were in turn lost by loaning them to others, or by damaging them somehow, or just misplacing the lids. I I decided to buy a new Tupperware bowl set, and this "Wonderlier" bowl set seemed to be the clear choice. Definitely not an economy set at about $35, but then if I wanted a cheap bowl set I would have bought whatever they sell at the hardware store or grocery store. I wanted something with good quality and something that would be well designed, well manufactured, of high quality and appropriate plastic material, and something that would last a long time.Others have commented on the sizes of these bowls, but often with some uncertainty or inconsistency. Tupperware's website says that their capacities are 6 cups (1.4 litre) for the small bowl, 8-3/4 cups (2.1 litre) for the medium bowl, and 12 cups (2.8 litre) for the large bowl. I used a measuring cup to fill them each to the brim with water, and the Tupperware specified capacities are accurate. However, if you fill a bowl to those capacities, you would be hard pressed to put the lid on. I think you need to derate each bowl by at least one or two cups to get a practical capacity. But I will say that nowhere on the bowls is it indicated what their capacity is, and I think that is a major error on Tupperware's part. Some have commented that these bowls are 'sheer', in the sense that you can see through them. I would disagree. They are not totally opaque, and if you hold them up to a bright light you can sort of see the general level of what is inside, but you certainly cannot see what is in them unless you take off the lids. The bowl colors are pleasant enough, but somehow they have a cheap look. I think my older bowls had a combination of color and plastic texture that had more appeal than with this set. Tupperware's website lists the colors as Salsa Verde (green salsa) for the small bowl, Tropical Water for the medium bowl (I would have called this 'teal'), and Purple Daisy for the large bowl. The ergonomics of the bowls is just OK, nothing special. A protruding ridge-ring below the bowl rim gives you a place to hook your fingers under when carrying them. The plastic surface is quite smooth, and would be slippery when the bowls or your hands are wet.The lids fit VERY tightly, and do indeed seem to be pretty much watertight, at least enough to prevent spills if the bowls tip over, or when transporting liquidy foods in them while driving in your car, or carrying them around. Even though I have experience with other older Tupperware bowls, and their various methods of fitting the lids, I initially had problems getting these lids on. With some other Tupperware bowls, you placed the lid on the rim and pressed down on the center of the lid, and they just snapped into place. On other bowls, you snapped them on at the quadrants using your thumbs. On these bowls, it is more like putting a tire back onto a bicycle rim; start by engaging the lid to the rim at one point, and then use your thumbs to press down firmly as you slide those thumbs along the edges of the rim until they meet again at the opposite side. If you try any other technique, it will seem like the rim will never snap on. In this regard, the small bowl was considerably more difficult for me than the medium and large bowls, probably because the plastic stiffness and thickness is the same, but the curvature is different. I actually thought at first that my small bowl lid was defective, and tried to contact Tupperware for advice; I got nowhere with them, disappointing for what should be a good company. It was another comment on Amazon that led me to the technique that finally worked for these lids. Each lid does have a large tab that you can grab and pull up on to 'break the bead' on the rim, in order to remove the lid. I think it would be difficult to remove these lids by just grabbing the edges with your fingernails. The Tupperware website says that these bowls are dishwasher safe, but nothing is said about them being microwave safe, and I doubt that they are.

Wonder Plastic!
My mother-in-law has had her Tupperware brand food storage containers for OVER 35 years. Throughout this time, Tupperware survived 3 kids and a lifetime of use and abuse (I am sure). She STILL uses them every day and I am amazed at how sturdy they are and how the lids still provide an air tight seal. This is WONDER PLASTIC. They just don't make them like this anymore. I don't know about you, but this is all the proof I needed to make the investment. I could not wait to purchase my own and I first purchased the 13 piece Servalier bowl set also offered through Amazon. I love this set so much that I purchased the 3 piece Wondelier bowl set as a complementary set and I could not be any happier. Since my Tupperware purchase, I have thrown out the old ones from the other so called "reputable" companies, which just don't last. I can finally stop wasting money buying from here and there. Although Tupperware makes microwaveable pieces, this set is not. This set is mostly for food storage in your refrigerator and or freezer. This does not bother me in the least for I prefer to heat my food in microwaveable plates, not plastic. I just feel safer this way. And yes, they are dishwasher safe.1/8/11I STILL love my Tupperware! Absolutely no issues almost 2 years later, not even food stains. I couldn't have said this about any other plastic storage brand. I'm sooo happy I made the investment. And my mother-in-law STILL uses her (almost) 40 year old Tupperware. I saw her use her favorite yellow Tupperware bowl this past Xmas (2010) to mix cookie dough. I swear, this stuff is amazing! Like roaches, Tupperware will clearly survive the next Apocalypse!

Good all purpose bowl set
This is my third set of Wonderlier bowls. I like the different colors that make the lids easy to match up to the bowl. I use them for about everything; salads, mixing, freezing leftover soups, etc. I do not use them to reheat tomato based items as they will stain. They go great in the dishwasher or microwave and I have never had any problems with lids or bowls being heat affected. I also like the way they stack in the refrigerator, freezer or in cabinets. They transport materials easily and have a supportive base. They are a little pricey, but I find they last a very long time. The first set I had for over 20 years. The second set I lent to someone and they were returned without the lids hence my needing this 3rd set. These are a great all around light weight (compared to glass) bowls.

Tupperware is the best
This set replaces an old set that was more than 50 years old. They look larger, but they don't take up any more room in the closet because the old ones had 'handles' sticking out on two sides and these don't. I stack them and store the covers separately. They're especially nice for storing and serving salads. Colors are pretty.
