Pioneer 3D NAND External SSD(240 GB)-Portable Solid State Drive (APS-XS03-240)

This is my first ever purchase when it comes to SSDs. I was looking quite a bit and found this one with the best reviews and a reasonable affordable price, so nabbed it right away.It was delivered very quick and works straight out the box. Plugged it into a Macbook and went to disk utility to change it to MS DOS (FAT). It worked right away and I love the transfer speeds. The transfer speeds are around 80-120Mbps.Lastly, it's very small and fits into the palm of your hand and is extremely light.Well worth every penny. It's still early day, but so far it's awesome!

Prior to buying this I had all my music (c. 40K tracks and 283 GB) stored on an external 4 TB HDD. It worked pretty well except for one thing. Every time I opened my music player I had to wait until the HDD had burst into life; spun up to speed and found the track(s) before I could listen to my selection. Sometimes it took nearly a minute to do that and if I hit "pause" for any reason and went away for more than just a couple of minutes it did the same thing when I got back.Now, spending nearly 60 quid just to save myself from having to wait for a minute may seem a bit extreme but listening to music is important to me. I like it to be hassle free. This SSD solved my problem. Access to my music is instant. No more delays; no more finger drumming or inner cursing. Just tunes when I want them. To me that's worth the expense.From a technical point of view the drive is about the thickness and size of a bundle of 5 credit cards. It is lightweight and easily portable. It comes supplied with a short USB cable and just works straight out of the box. In short it is exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend it.

I was so shocked to see how small this little thing was compared to other drives. It’s about the same size as a credit card but thicker and very light. It looks and feels like a premium product as you would expect from a company like Pioneer. I’m using this on a Mac so it didn’t work straight out of the box, and I had to use Disk Utility to format it to exFat so that OSX and Windows could recognise it. I gotta say this drive is super fast! It transfers 1gb in under 10 seconds. I was considering going for the popular Samsung T5 but some people had drive failures and I needed something reliable long term so I opted for a brand I knew and trusted. I would highly recommend this drive to anyone looking to use as a backup drive or just for working on projects from as so far it’s been working great for me and ticked all the boxes.

This was bought to replace a WD small form HDD which was being used for Time Machine backups on a Macbook Pro which developed a fault after a year or so. I needed something quick, reliable and fast to be able to cover this requirement and this particular device does it well.The only thing that was a downside, which I knocked a point off for was the delivery time - it was supposed to have been next day, but in the end, it ended up taking two additional days to arrive which was disappointing, but thats a fault of the Prime supplier not the device itself.

Brilliant device. Blows my mind how small and silent it is. However, through my own stupidity I bought the wrong one. I wasn't aware a ps4 needed a minimum size of 480GB for an ssd. I now use this on my pc purely to boot windows, and wow...my aging laptop went from taking about a minute to fully boot to maybe five or six seconds. The few games I have on there are ones with long loading times (kerbal space programme, I'm looking in your direction, mister "I take fifteen minutes to load with all mods") and without exception they load an order of magnitude faster.If you're going for this as additional storage for a console, please buy the half terabyte version or higher to avoid disappointment. Aside from that, this is brilliant value, well made, tiny, lightweight and worth every penny. If you're just buying to use for fast storage and loading on pc, you've made the right choice.

Clearly a quality product

I ran out of space very quickly on my Xbox Series S but didn’t want to spend £220 on the Microsoft SSD. I read a lot of reviews saying you could use a non official SSD for storing games but you can’t play them straight from the drive. All wrong!!!This drive is cheap, tiny, fast and can run anything straight from the drive. I thought I’d have to copy games from the drive on to the Xbox before playing, but no, that’s not needed. It works just as well as the internal drive.Also, my son has a PS5 and the 600-700GB drive that it comes with filled up pretty quickly. So I bought him one of these Pioneer SSDs too. It worked first time (just needed to format it for use with the PS5 - which is easy to follow on screen). Bang, another 460GB of storage space for my son to use (which is how much you get once the drive is formatted). Again, games run straight from the SSD and with no noticeable slow down or loading. We moved GTA5 and Rocket League to the Pioneer SSD and they both played really well and with no lag or any issues.The read/write times on this drive are excellent and I highly recommend it having now bought it twice!

I bought this to use with my PS5 as an external back up drive for PS4 games.PS5’s drive doesn’t give you much room and given the amount of free PS4 games you can download, an external drive is a must.I went with an SSD for the speed and this Pioneer doesn’t disappoint. While I couldn’t supply detailed info on how fast it downloads or uploads, I will say that it’s much faster than any of my USB 3.0 thumb drives.Aesthetically it is a tiny thing of beauty, about the size of a bank card, but thicker, although still very slim. It weighs absolutely nothing and the look and tactile feel to it is first class.Setting it up for use with a PS5 was just plug it in, follow the format prompt which pops up and the PS5 does the rest. Very quick very easy.The cable supplied is literally about 6 inches long so not much use, but other than that I would highly recommend this drive, especially if you want one as a gaming back up drive.

So far, no issues at all. It's super easy to get going on the laptop, files transfer SO fast, which is truly the best part for impatient people like me who have dealt with old school USBs and....floppy discs. The drive is super thin and light. I only have basic needs for this, some documents, pictures and videos to back up, nothing crazy. So I can't imagine needing more than this. Very happy!

Ho scoperto per caso questo ssd portatile e, conoscendo la marca per altri tipi di prodotti, ho voluto provarlo. Davvero ottimo! Fatto al volo test con Crystal disk ed ha registrato 450mb in lettura e quasi 400mb in scrittura! Piccolissimo (dimensioni di una carta di credito), leggerissimo ed ha anche una bella estetica! L'ho collegato alla presa usb della TV e lo riconosce senza problemi. Ottimo prezzo. Lo consiglio vivamente. Spedizione amazon sempre velocissima

I bought two of these to set up as a RAID 0 on my 2015 Macbook Pro. I was surprised to see how small and light these drives are. A+ on portability.Transfer speeds are alright. I got about 137MB/s average read and write speeds. Then when I set them up as a RAID0, I averaged 256MB/s write and 297MB/s read speeds. Of course, your mileage may vary.One thing I didn't like much, is how short the included cables are. Depending on where you plug them, they will hang in the air because of how light the drives are. In my case, for example, I have them plugged into a USB Hub, and they just hang in the air above it. It's hilarious.I know it's too soon to tell, but so far they've been working quite nicely. I use them for editing video on Final Cut Pro X on my MacBook Pro, and I can definitely feel a considerable improvement in timeline scrubbing and render times.I am happy with this purchase.
