Street legal or not, my 1984 jetta coupe doesn't have to pass safety inspection in this state with vintage vehicle registration so I am proud to be able to use the headlight optics preferred by the whole world except the USA.Compared to some other "e-code" conversion housings I've used, the construction is impeccable. I should state for the record that mine have "made in germany" on the glass and i have heard that some of these come from india. I have no reason to believe that the made in india version wouldn't be exactly the same quality but mine are from deutchland. Just stating for clarity.There are no casting defects in the glass. The polish on the glass and the reflectors is excellent. The fitment of the clips that hold the bulb in and the weather seal are excellent.The distribution of light is even without the dark spot in the middle you get with some of the cheaper options. Don't be fooled by a clean cut-off line, light distribution is key and i am confident that i can drive at night in the rain with these and actually see stuff.Of course these have that "e-code" cutoff line that goes a little up at the right hand side, so as to properly illuminate pedestrians, obstacles, and cars that may be entering the road way. The level of safety preferred by everyone except the USA for some reason.

I like them. Perfect fit. Nice light output. Nice beam cut off. I installed them on a 1995 Chevy Blazer S-10. The H6545 light socket on the truck is a little tricky. Could not find an adapter to plug directly into the stock headlight sockets. Had to get a H4 adapter on one end and spade ends on the other to plug into the socket on the truck. I wanted to keep the original sockets on the truck in case i ever needed to reinstall the seal beam headlights. Very well made, quality glass lens. Very soft and snug rubber boot to keep out moisture. I Hope it stays soft for years to come. The light does shine farther down the road, that is what i was looking for. Since i am very happy with these new headlights i will be removing the stock factory H6545 socket/plug. These new lights will be staying on the truck. Going to install a heavy duty wire harness for better light output and reliability. Looking for some new bulbs. Getting old, don't like to wait till they burn out. Plus with age Halogen bulbs grow dimmer. Great investment. Can choose any H4 bulb on the market.

I was having some trouble with the headlights after I swapped out my old sealed-beams. Really strange behavior like the "off" lights glowing (and having 5V across the pins instead of 0 or 12). I finally discovered that the 3-pin hookup on sealed-beams is NOT the same as the 3-pin hookup on H4 bulbs.H4 pins, looking at the back side of the bulb with the horizontal pin UP - - Left GND, Middle LO, Right HI. All three pins must be re-assigned from the sealed-beam which is LO-HI-GND. The pins in my connector were removable with a small screwdriver, so no big deal. You may need to bend the retention tab outward a bit for a secure fit when you push them into their new slots.Other than that glitch (and no notes or instructions from Hella), it's a piece of cake upgrade and the lights are fantastic.

Not sure why anyone would think shipping this in a bag would be a good idea. The box is really weak so I'm not really surprised that it shattered...THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF THE ACTUAL HEADLIGHT

Look great on the car but needed the retainer clip rebent and extra material on the weather boot trimmed at the back orifice for my selected LED bulbs to fit. I ordered 2 pairs for my application but was annoyed they sent a pair from 2 different warehouses instead of just sending both pairs from a single point of origin because I am charged per box at the parcel depot that receives on my behalf in Blaine WA.

Hella is the best. Have been purchasing Hella headlights, for all my vehicles, since 1986. The beam pattern on the road is perfect, with no hot spots or unlit areas. Installed this pair on our 1996 Fleetwood Flair RV, and viola you can now actually see the road.Note: I had just recently tried a pair of aftermarket projector headlamps, with LED halos, and its beam pattern was terrible. So don't waste your time on no-name quality headlights. Just buy the best.

I have to reorder this unit 3 times and return it 3x. What a bunch of Idiots. Whoever fill my order dont understand English. It only contains one unit without Bulb not 2 as mentioned.

Excellent product. I have to say they sit a out few millimeters further than my factor 4656 sealed beams. The chrome trim that holds the lights into the car fits... but it's not 100% perfect. I suppose I got lucky... and most people will be lucky... but beware of that fact if your vehicle uses a different method for mounting these or if space in front is limited. Visibly, they sit about 1/8-1/4 inch further out from my highbeam lamps. (1987 Ford Crown Vic)
