Got this as my electric pump only has a 12v power output and I needed to pump something up in the house. After purchasing this transformer I did find other brands that were cheaper, although cheap isn't always best practice I think in this case as it only has one sole purpose, I wished I would have shopped around for a cheaper option as the length of the cable isn't as long as I would have liked and i paid a little too much!That's the reason for giving a 4-star rating.

Wanted one of these to power a 12V hand held vacuum for the car, thus saving the draw on the car battery. Managed to get one through Amazon Warehouse for c.£8 delivered which, for what it is, I'm very happy with, but not sure I'd want to pay the full price. It works exactly as it should with a reasonable length cord on the 'cigarette lighter socket'. Just bear in mind the wattage ratings - there are 2 versions of this, and the 5W is enough for my little hand held vac - if you want to use these to power a 12v fridge you'll need the higher rating, but check the wattage need of what you will be powering to avoid problems. Bear in mind these are similar power adaptors to those used for laptops, and thus are not meant to power high draw electricals, even if they are 12V.

Given that I somehow missed the massive delivery cost I find myself annoyed at the total. Normally I'm awake to firms who do that (is there less tax on delivery costs than on sales?) - but there you are, it'll teach me to double-check before hitting the place order button!The item's fine which is the most important point- it's now powering my camping fridge via a mains socket. When purchasing these items be sure that the quoted amp-age is adequate to power your device...particularly if you use a cigar-socket splitter to power multiple devices: if the total power consumption of your devices is less than the converter's output you'll be fine. I have read the mixed reviews on Amazon and have to say I have found this product to be excellent and without fault. I have had it for over 6 months now and it still works superbly both in very hot and cold temperatures.I have tried the unit with three different 12 volt air compressors and all worked perfectly and the power supply never dropped or stopped working. I have also used it with a 12 volt caravan TV aerial and a 12 volt cooler box, again it performed superbly and I cannot find not fault it with it. I saw the comments about the 12 volt plug in adapter, however, I have tried 5 different 12 volt cigarette light plugs and all have fitted the socket perfectly and not popped out or slipped in anyway.I have given it 5 stars because it has performed consistently to that standard.

I have used the inverter once to power a 12volt cool box to see if it worked safely and it did it didn’t over heat and the box cooled as it should have so at the moment everything is fine. I can’t sing it’s praises to high as I’ve said it’s only been used once.

I got this to use with a small car vacuum so that I could use it indoors for stairs etc. The length on the adapter is generous, both from the end with the plug and the end with the adapter so worked very well for that specific purpose.The fit it quite 'loose' so it would be quite easy to pull the vacuum free, but the combined lead lengths mean that shouldn't happen often.I haven't used it for extended periods of time so can't comment on the heat issue that some people seem to have had.

We bought the transformer to power an electric coolbox when on holiday. It certainly does power it but a word of warning: the transformer does become incredibly hot. We had hoped to be able to leave it on overnight but we didn't fancy the prolonged use with the best coming off it. It is fine for a couple of hours but we always placed the transformer on a non combustible bsse.
