I bought these for my. 300 gal garden pond. Packing did its job, none were cracked or broken. I’ve tried various types of media. Like this style the best: it’s large surface is easy to pack /organize in my bio filter, theses tons of surface area for the bio bugs to take up residence, can be broken to fit if needed. I’ll never buy the little style media again. Decent price for the quality. Highly recommend

Bought these bio bricks for a custom 40 gallon sump that I was building wanted something that was easy to install and clean great value for the money buying in bulk definitely had more than I needed. The bricks are very functional and easy to stack instead of other types of media.

I got 1 box, and then a 2nd, no bricks were broken, the second had slightly different packing not that it seemed to matter.They stack well and work, on end, or flat. They are a little more than 4x as long than wide, I put over 50 on end, under my sump filter box, and then set some on edge/flat in front to keep the others standing. my thought is the water entering the sump will flow into the holes and around the edges of the upright ones for maximum penetration and bacterial filtering. Though ceramic/brick they are light weight, and a strong current can push them, especially if trying to stand them on end. Properly set up, they are stable and stay in place.I also got some of the round ones , they compliment each other, a touch wider and stack differently, both are the same length, I have more of these (the square/rectangular) in my sump.

I had more than enough for both my 8x8x4 koi pond and my 40g breeder with a 40g breeder refugium. Long term we will see but they definitely don't short you. I'm running bare bottom on the pond and the tank so I needed extra surface area and so far this works my pond is clear to the bottom. New edit when I first bought these there was no disclaimer about nitrites in SW. My reef tank went from 5 nitrates to well oner 100 and I wracked my brain as to why. Then I reviewed everything I put in and then I saw that the supplier put the caveat this will increase nitrites in SW which will increase the results of a nitrate test. That being said my koi pond is just fine.

It’s for freshwater only… it says right on the instruction manual idk why this is advertised for saltwater

So I’m starting a new tank and needed all new stuff. These are wayyy bigger than the regular ones I have inside my canister filter. But these are going into my wet dry so it’s probably much better. Starting to cycle the tank today so let’s see how it goes

You don't mind the fragility, these two catch a lot of sludge and algae.
