I think I got a dud...Update..
I bought this based on all the great reviews, but have had an experience unlike any of the ones I've read. I've had this ice make 2 weeks now, and have only had 1 full ice basket. Also the ice it makes comes out like little tiny bowler hats, and nothing like the little cups in the pictures that everyone else is getting. I don't know if I got a bad machine or what, but this thing was a total waste of money. I let it sit for 3 days before even plugging it in, and I have tried resetting it, changing out the water, putting it in the coolest place in the kitchen (right above the air vent), and literally nothing works. I'm going to reach out to customer service and see if they can help, and will update my review. But as of now, this was a waste of $150.- Update 4/16/21- requested an exchange for a new unit. Will try it out for a few days and update if I actually did receive a bad unit the first time, or if these are just bad ice makers. So to add insult to injury, my "replacement" was a used ice machine that someone packed up from their home (obviously) and threw in a box and sent to me. The first one I received was in the actual ice machine box (not a box someone had laying around and wrote all over. To say I'm pissed is an understatement!

Won’t last longer than 6 months!
I absolutely LOVE this little machine when I first got it. But after exactly 6 months the darn thing started leaking profusely. It’s not the valve so IDK where the leak is coming from. I haven’t move it since I got it, and I followed the instructions (and reviewer comments/warnings) to a TEE! I’m so darn disappointed! I’m not familiar with the company but I thought the reviews were pretty great. I’ve even raved about it to my family & friends. Oh well...(I have it sitting on a cloth because it keeps leaking...not a little but A LOT! I thought I would be a able to continue to use it, but it’s leaking waay too much water.). If I can’t get the manufacturer to exchange it via warranty, it’s just trash.

Great price. Works beautifully.
I bought this for my husband's mancave. His fridge out there died. 3rd refrigerator to die on us in 5 years. SMH. I think my Grandma will be 92 on her next birthday coming up in August and people - I sh*t you not,in her kitchen is a Frigidaire refrigerator/ooooold school freezer you have to defrost once in a while, and I'm assuming the inner light HAS to have been replaced. But it's hummed along since we'll before 1964, when I was born."Cause my mom still lived at home and never remembers it not being there. It had the claw type handle on it - I can confidentially say, it wasn't going to win any refrigerator beauty pageants, you might call it fugly. 60+ years later - it runs like a champ.Back to my review. After the hubby's fridge died. Our finances weren't doing well. At least not well enough to throw away 800-1000 for a mid range or used fridge. His "space" is detached from the house- guess what ? The Ice maker in the 1600 Samsung stopped making ice #$##@#)'$$!!!!The final resort was using I've trays in kitchen and he'd buy bagged ice and use a cooler. The Texas heat is unbearable. The cooler couldn't keep the I've from melting. He has arthritis and needs hip surgery. I hated seeing him hobble to and from the house.I read reviews like crazy. I can read 200 5 star reviews with glowing remarks, but if there is ONE bad review,it torments my decision making. With ALL that being said. THIS iS THE Van Halen of little ice makers. It kicks serious butt. It's a beautiful appliance, with heft , but not too much. It's almost 99% silent except for the barely audible sound of each batch. It's self cleaning. Ready to go out of the box. You have 2 cube sizes. He absolutely loves it. LOVES IT. Even was a bit mesmerized -as was I - at first. Fill with water. Turn on . 6 minutes later you got...ICE ICE BABYDon't hesitate. The price is fantastic. It works effortlessly and hubby has ice now all the time in his mancave where he hangs out when he's not answering work.

It makes ice, it doesn't keep ice cold!
I made the mistake of assuming that an ice maker would fill with ice that you can then serve out of. However, this makes ice which then quickly melts into water that will then make ice again. We've used it for 2 days in the house (~70ish degrees) and it's been enough for one kid who uses ice consistently and for me to have 1 cup of ice water in that timespan. Our fridge ice maker died and I was hoping this thing could hold us off until we get the new one in and that we could later use it during BBQs or what not. I had to go reread the entire listing to see if my expectation that it keeps the ice cold is valid, but apparently hidden at the end of the "notes" section it states you have to move the ice to the freezer! How on earth is that considered "portable"? In other words, this thing is worthlessly taking up countertop space. Fortunately I spent enough at Amazon that I don't feel bad sending it back even though it's been used a bit.

Solved our ice shortage but overall just okay
It has solved our problem of running out of ice from our fridge ice-maker (now that we're all working/schooling from home), but overall I'm underwhelmed by it's performance. It's on the bar in our family room which is also my office, and I do find it considerably noisy but have gotten used to it, to a degree. I do find it best to turn it off at times so as not to hear the ice cubes all night long.I had hoped I could get something that would keep the cubes cold, but this does not, so they just melt back into the reservoir. If I want ice by early evening I have to remember to turn it back on in the afternoon. It gets a little warm on the vented side, so I have to keep that area clear, but it doesn't seem to get too hot for the area. The cubes, even the large size, are smaller than I anticipated, and are not clear but very opaque and melt quickly. I have tried using both filtered and unfiltered water to see if it made any difference, and it does not.
