A GREAT RESOURCE FOR CKD NON DIALYSIS PATIENTS!
As a very close friend of someone who has stage 3 kidney disease this book has been invaluable. This resource is important for any person with CKD that wants to take control of their health and postpone dialysis for as long as possible. The lack of support and awareness in western medicine available to non dialysis CKD patients is alarming. Jenn’s book is a perfect starting place that empowers CKD patients to actively take control of their destiny.

Great book!
Even though this book does not present any specific recipes, it is worthy to have it as tool to be inspired to start a plant-based diet in order to improve kidney function. As a CKD patient, I really appreciate that a renal dietitian took the time to explain things that my doctor nor the dietitian have not done since I was diagnosed with this terrible disease. After learning about how my kidneys function can improve just by eating plant-based food and exercising, and after noticing the positive effects it has had on my lab results, I feel more confident and less stressed than I was before.

Practical Information
Very informative and useful. Hopefully we will have positive benefits from following the vegetarian with egg and salmon diet. Really appreciate the book as there aren’t enough books for final stages. Wish had more recipes.

Couldn’t stop reading
Read this book in one sitting. Easy to read. Great references in each chapter. Loved reading about the case studies. I would recommend anyone with kidney disease and healthcare providers that care for kidney patients to read this book.

Vegan with Kidney Disease
This book was recommended by a kidney dietician, and is full of good information. I had questions about supplementation when you are vegan and have kidney disease, which were answered by this book. Very helpful.

There is hope for CKD
This book makes a strong case for eating a plant based diet if you have chronic kidney disease. On the plus side, it is much easier and quicker to read than "Stopping Kidney Disease" by Lee Hull. It includes success stories of people in various situations which can inspire hope.On the minus side, it is nowhere near as comprehensive as Lee Hull's book, neither in discussing all the different aspects of kidney disease or in its detailed references to research. At the time of writing, the NHS and the UK kidney charities are still preaching a balanced diet including animal products like meat, fish and diary products. This confuses me. If the case is so strong, why isn't there more consistent advice. Do these vegan based books distort the evidence and cherry pick case studies? My GFR has improved from 37 to 50 while I've still been eating animal products. I have lost a significant amount of weight (from obese to normal) and I am eating a salad every lunchtime so my vegetable consumption has increased. Both books have convinced me to start reducing my animal based diet gradually so that I can see what happens to my blood analysis.
