OMG!!!
OMG!!! I was very hesitant at first to buy this because of the price...at the time it was over $100 and I currently had all the original c.d.'s in their glorious crappy sound quality. But I convinced my wife to get it for my 50th birthday when the price dropped. If you are even a mild fan of Donna's, get this! The sound is amazing and the presentation of the disc's are beautifully done. Even the releases I didn't really care for much like All Systems Go and Mistaken Identity ( which I could never get thru) sound amazing and I have rediscovered are pretty good. Cats Without Claws was my favorite when I originally bought the LP back in the day and was completely disappointed with the sound quality when it came to c.d. years ago, sounds so crystal clear, I swear I can actually hear instruments I've never heard before.I'm not a huge fan of remixes and personally have not listened to that many of them on here, but that's not why I wanted this boxset for anyway. I was really excited to get the songs Sometimes Like Butterflies and Face The Music, as they were not included on any albums on there first release.NOW LET'S SEE A CASABLANCA RELEASE LIKE THIS!!! Enjoy Donna Fans!

This CD collection is truly an act of love and respect to Ms. Summer’s memory!
I received my order yesterday, and I am extremely pleased with my purchase.Others have already commented on the meticulous, well thought out packaging of this CD collection. I extend my appreciation to those who put it together for not cutting corners, and for providing us with a quality product in every aspect … from the packaging, to the clear crisp sound of the original and extended bonus tracks, to the well written and insightful essays and beautiful photos. You can clearly see an act of love and respect to Ms. Summer’s memory in the way this product was put together.I enjoyed not only listening to the original material in each of the CDs, but also the extended bonus tracks; all showing the incredible versatility of this true artist. I particularly appreciated “Sometimes Like Butterflies” being included in the collection. Simple in its orchestrations, this beautiful melodic song really showcases Ms. Summer’s vocals as she begins the song in a somewhat playful whimsical tone of phrase, and ever so gently builds up her emotions. You can feel the depth and gravitas of her voice expressed in this simple yet beautiful melody.Again, all in all I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I hope to see more quality releases of this type of Ms. Summer’s beautiful music.

Very nice set! The rest of Donna's cd's should be ...
Very nice set! The rest of Donna's cd's should be released in the same format. Each cd is like a little hardcover book, filled with pages of information and behind the scene stories of the cd's creation, almost song by song. Then each cd has extra extended and alternate versions of songs form the cd. Very well done set and well worth the coins. The stories in the "books" give you a new understanding to the songs and that adds another dimension to enjoying them. It shows her rough but triumphant tour of the 80's. Although not all of these cd's did that well commercially, each one shows her diversity, her creativity and her tenacity to remain relevant. She succeeded! Not only did she succeed, but she was a trailblazer! Compare the song Grande Illusion by Donna to Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl and you'll see what I mean by innovative...She did things years before it became popular. Some of the never heard songs are some of her best. Her voice cannot be denied and this set shows it's full range and ability. She is sadly such an underrated artist yet she is one of the biggest influences in music history. A+ set.

Amazing collection!
This is an excellent boxed set. While most of this work was not as popular as Donna's disco hits, some of her best work and most cherished Fan favorite B-sides are contained in this collection of her 80s records. Even more astounding is the array of musical genres found here. For any casual listener (those who categorize Donna Summer as a disco singer) this would be a revelation. Throughout this decade, Donna served pop, rock, gospel and even a little bit of reggae tinted selections, and some of Donna's best ballads. Collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, Stock/Aiken/Waterman, Keith Diamond, and surprise compositions with Bruce Springteen and some memorable duets with the likes of Mickey Thomas and Donna's star studded epic "State of Independance", they're are all here in the boxes set, waiting to be rediscovered and appreciated. Donna Summer was the consummate artist. An accomplished composer and singer, very much deserving of her inclusion in the Rock Hall of Fame. She was busy until the end and sadly gone too soon. And we could only hope that we will soon enjoy whatever array of work she left behind unreleased and many believe it to be plenty.I very much recommend this boxes set.

The bonus tracks are a valued addition to my collection.
I bought this strictly for the bonus tracks. Many of the remixes are available on CD for the first time and I appreciate that I could ditch the inferior copies I made from vinyl years ago. They did a wonderful job of packaging this collection and I found the liner notes to be insightful. Despite all the nice extras, the collection is made up of albums that I was slow to buy or decided not to buy at all when they were originally released. They're just bad (to my taste) with the exception of Another Place And Time and a few songs that made their way to 12" singles. Those 12" singles kept my love for Donna in the present rather than allowing it to become a fond memory from my past. Now, thanks to the inclusion of the bonus tracks, this collection has rekindled my love for Donna once more. If there was any one thing that disappointed me about this collection it's that it didn't include the She Works Hard For The Money album. I wanted this to get a remastered copy of the Special Dance Version of the title song.

Life changer to life saver.
Donna Summer is a lady who literally changed my life when I heard ' I Feel Love' back in 1977. I've been a fan of her since then but to my shame had never bought any of her albums until 2010 with the Deluxe edition of 'Bad Girls'.Now I missed every single one of these albums when they were released and when I heard the very sad news Donna had passed, I went out looking for some of them,,NOWHERE to be found. It was a year or so later I learnt via Facebook that her estate and the relevant record companies had come to an agreement allowing the vast majority of her work from the Eighties and Nineties to be remastered and released. There were rumors of a box set which turned out to be true and here it is!I won't go too much into the content of the albums as there are those better than me who had already covered them in depth elsewhere. What I will do though is comment on the sound quality and the presentation. I know it isn't as complete as we would all like it to be as there is no 'She Works Hard For the Money', 'Christmas Spirit' or 'Crayons'. Nor is there any live material. But whats there is pure MAGIC. This release contains rare and difficult to find remixes and bonus material of each and every album included. There are extensive descriptions accompanying each album with a number of rare photographs. And the remastering is simply SUPERB. Any fan with a half decent HiFi will be blown away with the improvements in sound over the previous releases, giving a bite and a clarity that simply wasn't there in previously. This has to be one of the biggest bargains out there as far as music goes. To think I paid less than £50 for this back in December from Amazon, well that makes me very happy!Any fan of Donna Summer should already own this, if not they're missing out rotten. Oh and it might just change somebodys life like Donna did for me back in 1977!Highly recommended and a joy to own!

HOT STUFF
Hot stuff!Received my box set months ago and I have been listening to each CD over and over again! My favourite album is the Quincy Jones produced ‘Donna Summer’ featuring the epic and mesmerizing ‘State of independence’, the beautiful ‘Sometimes Like Butterflies’ and the sublime ballad ‘The woman in me’! I also love the sadly underrated ‘Mistaken Identity’ an opportunity to rediscover how great the album actually is. The remastering is phenomenal on all the albums and there is an array of irresistible bonus tracks and remixes (some previously released some unreleased) that are just amazing especially in the expanded 3 discs ‘Another place and time’. The art work for each album is truly luxuriously presented not mentioning the wealth of information featured in the extensive liner notes on every album...you will learn a lot about Donna Summer and the story behind each album. Thanks to all the people involved in producing this incredible legacy collection that does justice to one the greatest singer, songwriter and performer in music history...this is really hot stuff.

Brilliant..
Brilliant .... A beautiful packaged box which contains all the 12" mixes from the 1980's albums and 1991 Mistaken Identity album. The best album has to be "Cat's without claws" The most disappointing is the 1980 new wave album "the Wanderer" where Summer had dropped disco for the new wave, the album which has no extras was once considered a brilliant piece of work by Andrew Lloyd Webber who saw this play out as a musical. This box set also contains the 1981 un-released album "I'm a rainbow" Which has the 1982 Frieda (ABBA) track To turn the stone which Donna Summer originally did first. Summer's original version far out weights that of Frieda's. The 1982 Quincy Jones production was the album before Michael Jacksons Thriller album which Jones also went on to produce and State of independence from the 1982 Summer album, paved the way for Bob Geldof's Band Aid given the idea for an all star backing supporting cast. State of Independence featured Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick to name a few. Summer proved that she could drop the disco label and was known as a consummate singer! Unfortunately Donna Summer died from cancer just before she was inducted into the American rock in roll hall of fame. We'll never see the likes of her again!

Music SUPERB.........CD packing/sleeves poor!
Whilst I'm overwhelmed with the recordings variety, quality and liner notes to this superb set there's one thing I was not impressed with and that's why I've given it only 4 stars. Not only did my NEW version of this have a three inch split sleeve for the "All Systems Go" set but I pretty frankly do not like the sleeve design at all.The discs are difficult to remove and no form of inner protection has been provided either. It will only take a few insertions/ removals of the discs for this to start to appear as marks/scratches.For such a high profile and quality release this should have been better thought out. How my version ended up being torn despite being inside the booklet and NEW is beyond me.The price was a bargain at around £42.00 (maybe that was why?)RIP Donna and know that your legend is living on you were and will always be special and unique. A talent so rare in these days of mediocrity. So all in all music and liner notes SUPERB ,packaging fair to poor.
