IRWIN Tools Record Parallel Jaw Box Clamp, 48-inch (2026501)

The jaws on these clamps are perfectly parallel and the grips make them easy to tighten without having to apply a lot of force.

I used these large clamps for a butcher block build (im a beginner diy guy) i placed the wood strips on them for glue up and they are solid quality, I also have a pair of the 24" irwins.

I use this to line up boards perfectly while stack gluing them together to make things like thick table legs or frame members. Great tool needed in all wood shops.

I needed a set of 24" Parallel clamps to add to my collection. So there first place I always look is amazon.com. I have started to acquire Jet Parallel clamps, but stumbled upon a set of the Irwin's.At a price of under $30 for the set I jumped on it immediately. Compared to the cost of the Jet's they seemed like a bargain.Well once I got them I tested them out...and within 1 minute I knew that I did not care for them all that much. Although they are just as beefy as the Jet's and will probably outlive me they have a fatal flaw...or flaws.Pros:Cost is cheaper than other comparable clampsWell made and beefyThey are blue...change is niceHandles are good and does not fatigue or slipCons:Not a Jet clamp (seriously)The non grooved bar becomes grooved randomly as you tighten the clamp and forever scars the barThe fine threaded rod that forces the clamp heads together should have never passed the R&D testing phase. This is probably the straw that broke the camels back for me. This rod should be coarse threaded...PERIOD! To make a comparison...if I had to turn the handle on my jet 4 times to close it tight...the equivalent I would have to turn the Irwin would be 12!!!The clamp head does not seem to want to slide smoothly...or rather to make it slide is somewhat awkward.Final thoughts:The Irwins are not complete failures. They work,..with more effort than I have been spoiled with the Jets. They are well made and they are much less expensive. If it was all you ever knew, then you would not know what you are missing. If I could do it again, I would probably have passed on these and forked over the extra cash because clamps like these you have for life...and the difference up front is really nothing in the end.

Very solid clamps that easily apply the pressure needed to glue joints. The clamps will make some notches in the metal bar that so far have not impacted the functionality of the clamps. I used these clamps to do surface and edge joints.

Best investment I make for making cutting boards. Very sturdy, precise and priced well

Quality is the only way I can describe these parallel clamps.

Holds wood together! So... yah!

Good clamps, I have the 24" yost and they are much smoother than these Irwin clamps.
