Platinum Fountain Pen #3776 Century (Medium, Chartres Blue)

The pen is beautiful and writes like a dream. The nib was great right out of the box. No adjustments needed.

The Chenonceau color is a true soft white without any yellow or blue tint. Very pleasing. A converter is not included. The nib is a beautiful Japanese fine and writes beautifully without scratching or ink starvation even in my lefty overhand style. I used Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-Ho. Perfect for smaller notebooks or diaries. In size, it is comparable to the Sailor 1911 S, although the grip is slightly thicker. The seller provided excellent protection and rapid shipping of my pen and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Converter not included - which it should be for a pen costing over $100. Pen itself has less "heft" and feels less substantial than other Platinums. Nib (double wide) is a bit rough, not quite finished which is not normal for Platinum.

If you are familiar with Platinum 3776 Century fountain pens, this pen will write exactly how you expect. If not, I can tell you my experience without writing a full review. (if you want a full review, check the internet, there are dozens of them)Fine point Platinum nibs are not buttery smooth, they are more like a graphite pencil, still smooth but with some feedback. I tend to use wetter or more lubricated inks (again, search the internet or use Pilot Iroshizuku inks) so I get a slightly finer line than what I get from, say a Lamy 2000 fine, for example.The other nice thing about Platinum is their special cap, which helps prevent the pen from drying out if you leave it inked up too long without using it. I have never had a Platinum pen dry out on me.This particular color is a bit more translucent than it may look in the pictures. That's not a bad thing, as the color combined with the gold colored trim and nib look very nice. But if you aren't expecting translucent, it's good to know.This is my third Platinum 3776 pen and I would not have bought 3 of them unless I thought they are great pens.

Fantastic pen, I always thought I wouldn't like having feedback on a pen since all the others I've tried have ended up with me not liking or smoothing the feedback down myself but this wasn't the case, i'd even say it was pleasant. The biggest issue I've found with this pen is the soft fine, the tines are too tonight and it causes issues with hard starting. The solution according to Platinum is to send it in to be fixed, the problem is the pen here is not coming from an authorized retailer so there is no warranty to get it fixed. The only solution I've found was to run some very fine brass shimmy through and that solved it for me, but It's kinda disappointing a pen at this price point even came needing this fix.Photo is well after I fixed it.

Platinum 3776 fountain pens, with their many colors and gold or silver trims are stand alone beauties. But it's their premium14k nibs that put these pens at the top of list for performance as well as exceptional value. I think the Soft Fine is the best semi-flex nib on the market. There are softer flex nibs, but I believe these are most like 14k semi-flex nibs of long ago. They are a delight with which to write. Although each nib is unique, the high standards of Platinum are evident in every fountain pen. Of note, pricing is lower here but does not include the converter which needs to be purchased separately if you want to use it with bottle inks...a minor issue for a pen at an incredibly good price. Another bonus; shipping was super fast! I'll definitely be back to order here again.

This is my first Platinum FP. It is an excellent value in comparison to other high end pens (e.g., Pilot 823, Pilot CH 92 and C74, Sailor Pro Gear, Pelikan M800, and Aurora Optima). You will save a lot of money buying it from Amazons Japanese distributors. They shipped it in a timely fashion and it was delivered before expected.The style of the Platinum 3776 is somewhat boring and conservative, but with a truly beautiful translucent blue. The nib is gorgeous and writes like no other. It is hard to describe. The wetness is moderate and there is just the right amount of tooth without any scratchiness. It is a pleasure to write with. Once you try a Platinum nib, you are hooked. Note that it is an Asian Medium and similar to a Western Fine.My only complaint is that it is a cartridge/converter fill and not a piston or vac. The converter (sold separately) is a little bigger than Sailor converters. If you like to change inks a lot, this is the right pen for you. If you want to not worry about running out, buy a demonstrator vac or piston fill. Better yet, buy all three types of FPs.

I love this pen ! I purchased the Black in Black version with a medium nib. The pen has a classic torpedo shape and has tasteful gold accents. The pens constriction is top notch. The slip and seal feature is a great plus. The 14k medium nib is a classic Japanese ground nib and writes like a western fine nib and it is buttery smooth with a hint of feedback. The pen is perfectly balanced and is a joy to write with for long periods. I also purchased the Platinum ink converter, currently mine is inked up with Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi and it writes beautifully. This is my first venture into the world of premium fountain pens and I love my choice !

カクノとプレピーで万年筆熱が再燃実店舗で色と線の細さを散々迷い、色違いの赤ブルゴーニュ、超極細を購入あまりの描きやすさと万年筆の美しさに感激し、つい青も追加購入今回は極細にしてみました（ライフスタイル的に細〜極細しか使わないのです）購入にあたり、私もかなりネットの情報を参考にさせてもらったので、誰かの参加になれば…とレビューします★筆箱の中の適当比較画像です・コクヨのキャンパスノートB罫6ミリ・左の赤い番号は体感としての細さ★極細と超極細の違い・極細も超極細も線の細さ的にはそこまで変わらない感じ。ただ超極細の方がインクの出が抑え目なので、細く見える。手帳に3ミリ以下の字を書き込みまくりたいなら超極細がおススメ。普通にノートや便箋に書く分は極細でも十分。・超極細はプラチナ万年筆の醍醐味のようなので、何本も細い万年筆があるなら一本あっても良いと思う。勿論書き味は太い方が良いけど・超極細といっても店舗で購入したものは割とインクフローが良い。個体差がある？極細カクノの方が細い。なので、インクの詰まりはそこまで気にしなくて大丈夫そう（スリップシール機能もあるし）★悩んだこと→結果・手が小さいので重くない？→問題なし・パイロットカスタムとセーラープロフィット21も欲しかった→店舗での試し書きではプロフィット21が私にはしっくりきた（ペンを寝かせずに書く方です）。しかし、ラミー極細数本やパイロットキャップレス細を放置しすぎて御陀仏にした現状を考えると、スリップシール機能がやはり魅力的だった。あと軸が綺麗だったから・プレピーで十分では？→プレピーもとても良い！！でも蛍光マーカーを引きたいから顔料インクを使いたかった＋試し書きで金ニブの柔らかさに魅了された・繋ぎ目や重さ気になる？→今の所大丈夫だった。軽いのが好きで今までキャップは後ろにはめずに書いてたけど、キャップを含めた重さで力を入れず書けるように計算されて作られているというのを恥ずかしながら最近知ってそうしてみた。キャップをはめると自ずと重さでペンの角度が寝るのでたしかに書きやすくなりました笑・一緒にプラチナのコンバーター500も購入する？→店舗には700の銀しかなく、やはり金ニブには500の金が良いかったです万年筆は個体差があるという事で、通販は試し書きができない不安もありましたが、大きな文房具店が遠い…Amazonさんなら不良品は直ぐに取り替えてくれる！という信頼感だけで笑、購入しましたが、全く問題なく（ちなみに実店舗で試した極細現品は恐らく不良で超極細より太さが出なかった。店舗でもそういうことがあるので、出来たら試して買う方が確実と思います）ステキな万年筆が届きました。遠くまで行かなくていいのはほんと助かります。Amazonさんありがとう！！

J'ai acheté un second modèle 3776 Platinum auquel j'ai ajouté un convertisseur de la même marque que j'ai chargé avec la Carbon Ink Platinum et le résultat est merveilleux avec une plume qui glisse sur le papier avec un moelleux que je n'ai trouvé que sur mon premier Sheaffer Legacy qui datait de 1987 : le modèle 3776 est devenu un stylo que j'utilise tous les jours aussi bien au travail que chez moi. J'avais acheté un premier modèle 3776 avec une plume fine très souple en or et j'en suis également très satisfait. Un super Foutain Pen qui assure en toute occasion un travail formidable. Ce ne sera pas mon dernier c'est certain.

ローレルグリーン超極細を購入。インクフロー悪すぎ。こんなもんなのか？とは思えないくらい悪い。かすれるし途切れるし、あまりにも薄い。これじゃインクを楽しむことはできないし、メモも取れない。先に買ったバランスグリーンの細字と比べてあまりにもインクフローが違い過ぎる。インクは色彩雫の深海だから、別メーカーのインクということになるけど、インクフローおかしいと思う。美巧の極細でもしっかりインク出てるのだからこれは使うインクの問題ではない。バランスグリーンはデザインもインクフローもいいけど書き味がどーしてもサインペン。だからもっと金ペンの滑らかさを求めてローレルグリーンにしたのに…残念。プラチナさーん、これ改善せんと不評ばかりになるよー。プラチナに調整に出してみてどこまで改善されるか…また、レビューします。

シュノンソーホワイトってしゃれた名前ですよね。私は大好きです。暗色系の多いペンケースの中で、一本だけ白く輝いて目立っております。シュノンソーホワイト。響も良いですが、これは、フランス中部のロワール渓谷を流れるシエール川の両岸を結んで建つ、白亜の城をイメージしてプラチナ万年筆が「＃3776の白」に付けたカラーのネーミングなのです。そこは、6人の女城主の城とも言われる「シュノンソー城」で、「世界遺産」にもなっております。その為か、このペンの白はちょっとアイボリーがかった色になっていて、それがかえって金色のクリップやキャップの装飾リングと良くマッチして、エレガントな雰囲気を漂わせております。その上、このモデルから採用された装飾リングの「エッジング文字」は、「#3776CENTURY……」のロゴをくっきりと浮き上がらせて、ボディーの白さを引き立たせ、ペンに落ち着いた高級感を持たせてくれております（写真参照）ですから、女性が持つとホワイトパールのジュエリーの様で、フォンテペン（万年筆）がその優雅さをより一層引き立たせてくれるのです。しかし、我々、男性が持っても大丈夫です。白は古今東西、純潔、潔白、正義の印で、すべてのものに適合するオールマイティーの色なのです。ユニコーンもペガサスも白で、ガンダムもホワイトベースも白い奴です。我々、男児は、少年漫画に出てくる様な、正義の騎士、ホワイトナイトになるのですから（笑）でも、このペンは見栄えばかりではありません。「＃3776センチュリー」は誰もが認める日本のベストセラーフォンテペンの１つなのです。私も、何本か持っておりますが、長く使う為の書き味も折り紙付きです。１万円をちょっと超えるこの価格で、高級ペンと同じ大きさの持ちやすさとバランスを追求して、書き易さも実現しております。14金ペンなのに、ボールペンに慣れた手にも馴染む硬さと、書き易いインクフローを実現し、尚且つ、ハードユーザーも納得させる工夫がしてあるのです。それが、「＃3776センチュリー」の見た目の特徴になっているペンニブの独特な形状で、硬すぎない柔軟さを与える為に、大型ニブのハート穴には、本物のハート型を開けた上、充分なたわみしろを設けて横に平板なニブにしてある所です。当然、インクフローも字幅に合わせて調整しております。その為、幅広い層の使用者に受け入れられるペンタッチを実現しており、各自がいつもの筆記具を使う感覚で使用しても、フォンテペン本来の滑る様な書き心地を味わえる様に作られているのです。又、プラチナ独自のスリップシール機構付きですので、インクを入れた儘、数か月放って置いても、ペン先が乾きません。キャップを開ければ、ボールペン同様にすぐ書けます。これは、余り、使わない方や初心者の方でも安心して使える大きな利点です。よって、このペンは「金ペン」だと言う事を意識せずに、誰でも使える非常に良いペンだと思います。例によって、その#3776で、女城主の「線画」（想像画）を描いて見ました（写真参照）今回もご機嫌な描き味です。但し、他の方たちのレビューによりますと、スリットの絞りに問題のある個体に当たった為なのか、時たまインクフローが字幅に合っていないモデルもある様です。その辺がなければ「金ペン」として、とても使いやすくリーズナブルで完璧なモデルだと思います。以上、思いっきり個人の感想でした。でも、このシリーズは、本当に良いフォンテペンだと思いますよ。
