On of the best RPG games from Atar.
If you like Gauntlet Legends, you should definitely give this game a try. It's one of the best RPG games that Atari has published. I love this game so much. Recommended to anyone.

That's why its only 15 bucks.
Ok, for the money I suppose the game is fine. While I have not gotten very far into the game yet, I am not sure that I ever will so I am going to go ahead and review it now while it is fresh in my mind. When the game dropped at only 15 bucks I was curious, thinking maybe its just becaue their is not much content, and while I cant speak on that side of it yet as I have only played it for a couple hours, I am disapointed with the interface, and the limited character options.1. To start you can choose to play a Male Human Warrior, Male Halfling Wizard, Male Dwarf Cleric, or Female Elf Rogue. Thats it. You cannot customize your appearance whatsoever, you cant choose your sex other than what I have said, you cant be an elf wizard, or a human cleric, you have no customization over any of that. You can choose your own feats, and powers from the limited selection offered. However as I stated since I didnt get far in the game I dont know if more choices in feats and powers become available later, I would assume they do.2. If you have ever played DDO, their is a button that you can accidenly push or activate it if you want, whatever, I did it on accident occasionally, and some people I know also did this, that causes the camera movement to lock to the mouse movement and the curser disapears. Now personally I disliked that option, I like to use my mouse to activate abilities that are not set to activate on numbers 1-7, as moving my fingers across the top of the keyboard in the dark after 7 I have to be careful of not hitting the correct button. I also like to use my mouse to pick things up, but with this game you cant do that, as far as I was able to figure, their is no way to unlock the mouse to camera linkup. Also when I tried to set the graphics to higher than low it was all locked out. Also you can't remap key commands, you can look at how its set up and that's what you use.I suppose that if you like to play with a controller instead of keyboard / mouse like me, you will have no problems with the interface, in that way I suppose I would compare it to FFXIV, much more console or at least controller friendly. If you dont care much about being able to customize your character, and you like playing pre rolled toons then I suppose that you would not have a problem with the characters you can play. Personally I like to have control over customizing my characters. While Dragon Age 2 did stick us with few options we could still choose to be a male or female (beating a dead horse here, but female so long as you dont mind having breasts that would make the rocky mountains jealous)(yea I am one of them A-cup lovers) of any class, and within the environment you have complete control over your own characters appearance, and how your attributes and powers will look in the long run.

This is an online game
Yes, I know the game says you can play solo, but you still need the internet. I am a huge DnD fan, and when I heard a video game called Dagger Dale was comming out, I was interested. The game looks like it has the new 4th edition style of DnD, so yeah I was exited. But my hope for a 4th edition game for the computer came crashing down when I opened the case. This game requires an internet program called Steam. Why? I don't know. When I buy a game, I expect to play the game after I install it. But no, I can't install it because an internet program is required. If I want a game, I'll buy the game, if I wanted Steam, I'll get Steam. But I don't want Steam garbage on my computer. But there is another problem that made me mad, and its this:When I opened the box and read the instuctions, it said something the lines of this. "Steam is required in order to play the game. If you do not want or agree with Steam, you can return the game UNOPENED." Ok, how can I return the game if I already opened the case and the book inside said UNOPENED? You can't! I am very disappointed in this purchase. If I could rate this game zero stars, I would. I can't even play the game. Don't buy this game, it took more than 3 hours for me to TRY to install it, but of course, all tries failed. The name for this review stands true. This is an online game, solo play is just a way for them to get you interested.

Could Have Been A Lot Better
I'm a long time Dungeons & Dragons fan. I read the reviews before I picked up the game, so I knew what I was getting into. As a whole, I found the game playable and entertaining. But, there is a reason it came out at $15. It does seem rushed and incomplete. I will say, I thought the graphics were okay. They were not any better than games made ten years ago, but they suited the purpose. Sound was okay and the fighting was fun, even if a bit simplistic. It reminded me of a Diablo clone. Not that that is a bad thing. I liked Diablo. Daggerfall is quite short. It only took me 20 hours of play to complete. However, I gave Daggerfall two stars for a reason. The first major criticism is the saving system. While you can save where ever you want, when you load your save it will be at the start of the current major quest. What saving allows you to do is keep your current inventory and money. This will put you in a better position to complete the quest the next time through, but you have to cycle through lots of dialogue and repeat previously completed sub quests. Basically, it's a bad system. The next major gripe is character creation. You only select from a Human Fighter, Halfling Mage, Dwarven Cleric, and Elven Rogue. The only female character you can use is the elf. You can't select your own combination. You don't get to roll your character stats. You can add additional points every couple of levels. You get to select feats and proficiencies and add more as you progress in level. However, this leads me into the next issue. You are allowed only three hot keys for feats or using potions. My fighter had about six attack feats, but I could assign two to keys with the last key saved for healing potions. What's the point of having all this cool stuff if you can't use it. It seemed to me that the game was a bad port from console, but there seems to be no console version for sell except for an Xbox downloaded version. They should have been able to do a better job with the interface if this was their primary system.Daggerfall also has a linear storyline and you can only play with one character unless you play online co-op. No party combat like in Baldur's Gate. The odd use of grunts for voice acting also detracts from the game. Fortunately, the subtitles are the real means of communication. Why not leave the voice out completely if you are not going to do it right.Daggerfall also uses Steam. If you have a problem with that or don't have internet on your gaming system then don't buy the game. Also don't buy used, as you will not be able to play unless Steam grants you an exception.
