These pencils are as good as the well known art pencil brands., as you can see I tried several orange pencils to judge. They are soft to draw with and are quickly soluble in water. I like the colored barrel of the pencil, it makes in easy to locate the color I want. They came in a cardboard box, but my pencils are never put away, so who cares. I hadn't realized General Pencil made watercolor pencils; they are well known for their charcoal pencils and brush cleaner. General Pencil has made pencils since 1889 in New Jersey. They don't seem to be available in local art supply stores.

The pencils arrived right on time and very well packaged. My grandchildren were thrilled with the color and quality of pencils they will have for this school year. (they consider themselves artists :) Because they're watercolor pencils they can be used as colored pencils or blended with brush and water for a watercolor effect. I randomly pulled several from the packaging and found the core of each to be well centered (helps stop breakage in the sharpener) with good color, hard enough to limit flaking and soft enough to transfer color without scrubbing. Erasing was a bit difficult but workable without rubbing a hole through the paper. The pencils are made in the USA and the quality shows.

packaged well and arrived as expected. In my opinion, these are the best watercolor pencils I have ever used. Smooth, well blend able, nice colors, keeps a sharp point, and lead seldom breaks if you dry the pencils well after getting them wet. I have tried the other top brands and over all these work the best. My one problem with the pencils is that they don't come in larger sets; 24 is the max I have seen I end up using them more than any others, so I have to order them more frequently.

General's Watercolor Pencils are EXCELLENT. Very rich color when water is added (this is a replacement set). The only reason I took off a star is that, while the package came wrapped in plastic and the plastic outside was perfectly dry, when I took off the plastic the paper container was absolutely SOAKED and falling apart. Luckily the pencils are in plastic trays. It looks like the pencils are OK, but the paper boxes and instructions are useless. I don't know how you can wrap a totally soaked paper container in plastic and not notice it, but someone did! However, as I said, these watercolor pencils are excellent.

This is a great basic watercolor pencil set. The price point is great also for someone just dabbling in water color. Highly recommend.

Amazing pencils for the money.Saw these featured on a YouTube video about the best watercolor pencils and these came in third, beating out many exspensive pencils.They don’t break when you sharpen them and they are very vibrant.Very happy with my purchase.
