Well OK, "peace of mind" may be a little strong; it's not a religious artifact. But all the stored food and firearms won't be of much comfort if you have no water. If electricity fails, you need a back-up plan to access your well water. And this is the simplest and most economical I've seen.My pump arrived missing a part. Amazon's solution was return the whole item to them for a refund. Fortunately, I decided to call the manufacturer - Gunslinger Preparedness. The founder and main man, Tony Gerber, was very apologetic that a part was missing and immediately arranged to have that part shipped to me at no charge. You couldn't ask for friendlier customer service.Today, my father and I tested the pump. We had to shorten it by 13 feet so it would fit our well. We just followed the Gunslinger video on how to do that, and the operation was a success. The pump works.

Easy to install and modify the length. I had to take ~14 feet off mine, and the youtube instructional video on how to do it was well done and easy to follow. Do a youtube search for "gunslinger well pump" and you will find all their videos. Mine did not come with the little filter attachment on the end (mainly just keeps the intake out of the sand at the bottom of your well) shown in the videos, and the cable provided to secure it inside the well is a tad short. It would also be nice if they provided extra o-rings and seal, or at least told you the o-ring size. Otherwise, works like a champ and easy to put in. Highly recommend this. Now I have unlimited water if the power goes out!

I'm not at all mechanically inclined, but I managed to get started pumping within minutes of unpacking the box. Simple & easy to pperate, and IMHO a must-have for anyone with their own well who wsnts to remain self-sufficient during emergency or extended power outage situations.

Good price, simple set up to get through an emergency. I had questions regarding keeping the line from freezing and had a quick detailed response that had a touch of real deal human customer service.
