Airfix Douglas A4B Skyhawk Starter Gift Set (1:72 Scale)

Awesome!Very easy to assemble and high quality, acurracy as well.I didn't use attached paints. But those are good. I just only use black for tires. The others will keep for another kits or for emergency.It was very fun to assemble. All parts are well injected with high accuracy. Details are very good. Decal also perfect!It is enough size for air brushing and for pannel line making.Good! I do recommend to all.

This starter kit is from the same mold as the more expensive A-4B/A-4Q Airfix fit. Hence, although you don't get the same decals, you get the pieces to build not just the US version (A-4B) but any of the Argentine versions (A--4C, A-4P, A-4Q) from the Malvinas air war between Argentina and Britain.For example, the "humpback" electronics pack piece is there in the sprue -if you need to see how that is built, find online the instructions for the other Airfix kit (#A03029A) and see where these parts go. Then get some aftermarket argentine decals and voila' you got it.I purchased 3 of these kits to build all these versions. Love the detail and the paneling of this model. The reason why I deducted one star is due to teh fragility of some small parts (e.g. undercarriage rods) - every time, despite how careful I was, I managed to break these - but was able to fix them back with a tiny drop of super glue.If you get it when discounted here for about $10, then it's a no brainer.

Highly recommend for beginners and pros

Nice model ...working on it with my 8 yr old but he certainly needs assistance. Directions are not always perfectly clear with symbles... go slow, its not too bad.

the kit has 2 Spruce As and is lacking a Spruce B. As I tried to contact Amazon to return the kit they told me that the product can't be returned due to containing Hazardous materials (assuming paint and glue). Tried to contact Airfix America support without any success, so I would say stay away from this kit. Never seen such a defect before in all the years of building kits.

This was an enjoyable build! Being a novice, I enjoyed this starter set and the array of paint colors to add depth to the body and also the decals!This is a great kit for a beginner who has only build one or two other models (seeing as it was my second scale model ever) but for younger builders they made need some assistance with some portions of the build.The paints were wonderful! The brushes quality and will be using them in future.Tools you will need besides what comes in the kit: clippers and knife to remove parts from the sprue, a simple pin vis hand drill to make some small holes to help cement the missiles and a toothpick to help apply the supplied cement.You probably could forgo the pin vis drill and cement the pieces directly but you would need to shave the pieces down so they fit well and cement properly.If you build with wheels down you also need a 5 gram weight to keep balance.If you build with wheels up you’ll need to cut some of the pieces to fit as well. I did this which meant I didn’t used a lot of the smaller parts. Wheels down looked like a more complex build. Maybe I’ll do that next time!Only complaint is if you assemble as directed with missiles it blocks the drilled holes for display on an Airfix stand - I’m sure that’s easily rectified if you move the holes but just a thought.Overall super enjoyable and I’m looking forward to my next Airfix set that just arrived in the mail.Edit: I still give this 5 stars but if this is your very first kit — and you are new to scale modeling the decals are many and finicky. I just learned that the Medium Starter Kits from Airfix are for beginners who have a little bit of experience. The medium and large starter kits come with more colors, more small parts, and a little more detail that requires patience and some knowledge of how to prepare pieces. I’m still terrible with decals and the decals are many and had this been my first build I might have found it too challenging.If this is a gift for someone new to scale model building - consider a ‘small starter kit’ from Airfix (it comes with only 3 colors, less parts, and 1 brush)

....gefällt mir die Passgenauigkeit dieses "Starter Sets". Ich brauchte fast keinen Modellfüller zB Revell Plasto oder ähnliches, da die Spalten sehr gut beim Kleben schließen. Farben, Pinsel sind auch gut zu gebrauchen, trotzdem finde ich die Modellset Farben von Revell besser da das öffnen und verschließen der kleinen Töpfchen besser gelöst ist als die Farbtöpfchen von Humbrol (verschütt Gefahr)Auch gibt es verschiedene Varianten des Skyhawk zu bauen zB Bremsklappen ausgefahren, verschiedene Abwurfbomben.Was leider fehlt ist ein Modell-Ständer, um den Skyhawk im Flugmodus zu zeigen ( nicht jeder möchte das Fahrwerk ausgefahren) den gibt Airfix nicht mit und ist als extra zu Ordern.Trotzallem lässt sich ein sehr schöner Skyhawk im US-Navy Stil, (für Anfänger leicht) bauen.

Muy buen producto, y bastante completo el kit. Solo faltó un color de acrílico, pero se puede obtener igualmente realizando la mezcla correspondiente.
