Beautiful and sturdy doorbell but it is NOT FLUSH MOUNTABLE
This doorbell looks great and feels sturdy on my 1947 cape. The black color matches my updated black lighting fixtures and lock hardware and was similar enough in dimension to use as a replacement for the old one. However, this doorbell has a large 1 inch protrusion on the back which prevented me from easily re-installing in the original location of the old flush mounted doorbell. I had to build a “prosthetic” because it was impossible to drill a hole in the brick without damaging the wiring. I discovered that gallon paint sticks were the perfect width and cut 4 pieces to length, gorilla glueing them together to form a block which I clamped and let sit overnight. Next I cut a hole with a 3/4 spade bit that would accept the protrusion and painted it white to match the house paint. I drilled pilot holes that aligned with the original doorbell installation and screwed the block only to the house using the original doorbell screws which fortunately would be covered by the new doorbell. With the block attached, I drilled pilot holes for the new decorative screws provided with the new doorbell and tightened with a regular screwdriver. The provided screws were too short to go thru the doorbell and mounting block and house and didn’t align with the old holes anyway. It took a lot of doing but it was worth the effort.

Doesn't work on an extended "Westminster" chime set
Despite stating it works for doorbell "chime", it does not work for multiple chimes (e.g. Westminster). As soon as the caller releases the button, the chimes stop because there's no diode to continue the ring..Looks pretty though...

Great replacement for a broken doorbell
My 96 year old mother's doorbell had stopped working so I shopped around on Amazon and found this one. It's perfect --- and it was a great price as well. All are pleased!

dont use the supplied screws
Dont use the supplied screws for mounting - they will twist off. They don't even look like they are made from metal, but some sort of coated plastic. There is a reason why they give you extras. they suck. Doorbell is fine.
