DO NOT buy this fan! Hunter customer service is non-existent.
I bought this fan because I wanted to connect it to my Apple HomeKit smart home network. Installation was fine. The fan works as advertised with the remote. However, the supplied HomeKit accessory code is incorrect. I cannot connect the fan to my Apple HomeKit network as a result. The fan is clearly connected to my Wifi network because I can see it on my router's device list, but that's worthless to me without a valid HomeKit code. I called Hunter support twice. The first time I waited for a representative to pick up for over an hour before I hung up. As I am typing this review, I am waiting for customer service to pick up my call for 35 minutes. That's over an hour and a half of my time without even speaking to a live person at Hunter's customer support. When I FINALLy did get a person on the line, she claimed the SimpleConnect department handles that problem, and all she can do is take my information and that department would contact me by email within 24 hours. i do not understand why I have to call customer support only to (supposedly) be contacted by another customer support person later. Why can't I just call the SimpleConnect department's customer service directly? For a company that previously had an excellent reputation, I am very disappointed in Hunter fans.

Cannot get "Smart" functionality to work. "SimpleConnect app" is terrible.
Before you spend $370 on this fan and then $350 on the installation, check the internet for reviews. Search for "problems with hunter smart fans simpleconnect". Not sure how Amazon was able to prevent the 1 star reviews from materializing (as of April 2020), but this fan is a gigantic disappointment. Sure, it works, with the remote, but I'm paying an arm and a leg for it to be "smart" and I and many others cannot get the smartness to work with any consistency or regularity. When I can get it setup with Apple Homekit, switching the fan speed does not work. I can turn the fan off or on to whatever speed it was at, but using the app to try change the speed to one of the other options just...well I am overridden and see the speed toggle to something else. Wtf? I've called in to support a few times and they sound truly apologetic; they must be getting beat up left and right over this. The remote works fine, and it's disappointing to know the third party company they hired to do the IoT stuff is just so bad. Also the beeping sound, as intimated by others, is just plain annoying. What idiot thought it would be a good idea for the fan to emit an obnoxious and rather loud beep when I press something on the remote (which again, I don't want to use in the first place)? So if someone is sleeping and I want to turn the fan up/down, it emits an obnoxious beep? Shortsighted to the extreme. I just can't fathom what QA processes and product development processes at a company allowed something seemingly as trivial and trifling as a ridiculous beep to make it into the final product. Then I realize that obviously they make physically rugged fans, and their internal processes are tuned for that, but when it comes to anything other than that, you need to expect the worst. I'm genuinely not one to suggest that heads should role, but how did you all let this product go to market? It's nice their marketing says it works with Google Home, because that is a complete lie. It did in 2018 but they discontinued that (or the third party IoT company they use for the Google Home integration stopped). Again, google it and see what other people are saying. You're probably better off getting a dumb fan and then something that speaks Internet and RF. Fan companies can't seem to put a stupid little chip on their fans that can do both. Get something like this instead: https://www.amazon.com/BOND-Ceiling-Instantly-Amazon-Compatible/dp/B071GVGVVH

I wouldn't buy this fan again
I installed this fan in my living room and wanted smart home connectivity. Sure the fan itself runs well. Would I install it again? Probably not, it's expensive and the application is not great. Response time is laggy. I installed two more Hunter fans that look almost exactly the same for 1/4 the cost upstairs. I then installed lutron Caseta smart switches at the wall. Response time is immediate and the application is better. Oh and the cost is less than half. I also wonder what would happen if Hunter stops supporting this fan or app...

Great Fan ... Poor Home Automation Functionality
I’m pleased with the fan itself (though I installed it in the bedroom and find it has slight hum to it). I found it very difficult to connect to my router. Alexa integration is poor. Alexa can turn the fan on and off. She can turn the fan down. Asking Alexa to turn the fan up results in either 1) Alexa saying that’s not supported or 2) Alexa saying OK but then not turning the fan up. The SimpleConnect app is unusable (other than to fumble your way through the WiFi router setup). I find little correlation between what the fan is doing and what the app says the fan is doing. The remote control works great and I use it exclusively to control the fan.In short, it’s a great fan but don’t buy it for the home automation functionality ... connecting it to your router and using it with Alexa is more trouble than it’s worth.

Buy it for looks only...NOT capabilities
If I were purchasing for looks alone I would give this fan 5 stars. I took off three stars because it does not operate as a WIFI enabled fan as it is marketed. It does not integrate with any of the smart home systems we have. I have sent multiple email to Hunter with no resolution. I am sitting on hold as I type this. Hold time was initially 10 minutes but 46 minutes later I have not even been acknowledged by Hunter.I will update my review if I ever get to speak with anyone at Hunter regarding the SIMPLEconnect problem.

Good fan
I like the fan. Installs like a typical ceiling fan no surprises there. Motor is silent, which is important to me as many ac motor fans have a hum to them, this is DC and is silent on all speeds. Pushes a good amount of air. Remote works very well. I did try the iPhone app, more just as a novelty. Connected fan to my home Wi-Fi which was simple enough. Had a problem with the app though, if I set the fan speed with the app, then used the factory remote to change the fan speed, the app seemed to revert the speed back to what the app had set it at. I can’t use just the app or the remote but not both so I disconnected the fan from Wi-Fi and deleted the app. Never bothered to try to set up the fan to my google home so do t k ow how that would work out. Overall, quite please with the fan, seems to be better than the big box junk I had kept buying.
