I read a lot of reviews about this and similar products before purchasing these. The magnets work well to secure a semi auto pistol either from the side or top of the slide. However, heavier pistols should probably be supported from the top of the slide. Other reviews I read mentioned mounting the magnets in a vehicle to support a pistol. Some said the pistol would disengage from the magnet when driving over speeds bumps or hitting pot holes. I can see how that might happen - especially with a heavier pistol.

I tried this out with a large frame 40 S&W. The flat mount has much stronger magnets it seems. The other mount seems as though the gun may come out over a large bump. Also, there needs to be some kind of lining to get rid of the constant rattling while driving.

Bought as a gift. Appear a bit rough(dull) but on testing the power/strength seems acceptable for purpose.
