Anthony Bourdain: The Last Interview: and Other Conversations (The Last Interview Series)

LOVE THIS BOOK
So great to see Tony in this series of heroes! Plus, as I was reading it, I realized he was speaking more about himself than he tended to do in the shows, so I felt like I was seeing sides of him I hadn't seen before. Just made me like him and miss him all the more. This is also a really thoughtfully put together collection, spanning his career. You can actually see him grow and deepen. Like my favorite episodes of his shows, I will go back to this one again and again for the pleasure of his humble intellectualism and fantastic sense of humor. Also: the really moving and insightful introduction by New Yorker writer Helen Rosner -- a friend of Bourdain's -- is worth the price of admission in itself.

The words come directly from Bourdain. It is brilliant.
After reading the bad reviews of the Bourdain book out by CNN, mostly calling it shallow, I was thrilled by this book. It is raw and real , and I think he would have liked it. Every page is quotable. You get a wonderful feel for how his unique mind worked. It also frames how he formed his impressions of the "human condition."

My thoughts . ..
It is so nice to have some of the interviews that Mr. Bourdain gave, nice for us and Treasures for his daughter.

I am one that reads everything Anthony Bourdain wrote and everything that was written about him. For me, this is a must have.

This is literally making me leave a review
I don't want to write a review but my app won't let me pass without doing so. I am annoyed.

Missing pages, but the content of the ones I have are good
I bought this book hoping to learn more about the more recent Anthony Bourdain (post-chef life), and I like the interviews I've been able to read. My copy is missing pages 44-61, going straight from an interview with Jill Dupleix to the middle of an interview with Neil Degrasse Tyson, and there are more editing errors in the Dupleix interview than should be printed. I've reached out to the publisher about those, but I wasn't sure if anyone else's copy was missing pages, too. Just a heads-up!

Interviews

I wish he was as still alive and broadcasting and writing - a genius
This man was a troubled soul but a complete genius. I’m so sad he’s no longer alive

Short but sweet enough...
Great content but not nearly enough to justify a full priced purchase. Buy with confidence if it’s on offer again.

Disappointed. Feels like profiteering.
Nothing really new or that's not accessible elsewhere. The last interview in the title is just a five minute read.
