Love this book!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My daughter has been learning Mandarin for the past 4 months and has been loving it. When I found these books by Katrina Liu I was elated. The fact that it’s written in English, Chinese and pinyin helps me, but what I love most is that her grandpa (Gong Gong) can read with her. She loves reading and learning new words and this enforces her learning. Gotta love that! The story is also cute and well written. I have all 3 of Katrina’s books and none disappoint!

Cute bilingual book with fun characters!
This is such a cute book, and as my first bilingual book order on Amazon, I was pleasantly surprised. It's so hard to find bilingual books, books in traditional Chinese, and even harder to find good quality ones. My 2 year old niece loves bunnies so she loves the teacher character. She can sit through the entire book and has started repeating parts of the story herself (in Chinese!). She can understand Chinese but doesn't really speak it, so it's great to hear her trying to tell the story! The book is pretty thin but is good quality paper and it is printed well. Since it's not a board book, we've kept it away from my niece until she requests it, but when we left it out by accident a few times she didn't rip it up because she loves it, lol. The traditional Chinese characters are great because grandma can read it to her and the pinyin is super helpful because everyone else can read that, and the English is great so that everyone understands. The only issue is that I ordered a second one to give as a gift, and it's in perfect condition with all the right pages, but there were random extra pages about war planes (see photos)! I have initiated an exchange and hopefully the next one that arrives will be what we need it to be.

Great bilingual book to learn Chinese
My husband is learning Chinese together with my 19-month old son. This book is great for both of them. The sentences are easy for beginners, and the illustrations are cute. I like the big text that are very easy to follow and read along. I think the best way to learn a language is in the context, and this book provides exactly that. The first day at school story would also help a young kid to adapt to school life easier. My son is not yet school age, but I'm sure when the time comes, it would be helpful. Thanks for making this book for all bilingual families, young Chinese learners, and their parents.

Fun, great design, and nothing quite like it available!
Right out of the gate you notice the good-looking cover full of vibrant colors and great layout. But, once you begin to read, you can see the great detail in providing traditional Chinese, pinyin, and English. My daughter is going to begin Chinese immersion school soon, and this looks like a great way for us to help her progress.

Pinyin, Mandarin Characters, and English, oh my!
We love the Mina books!! My daughter and husband speak Mandarin primarily at home and the pinyin helps me also to be able to read this book to my daughter while learning characters and translation myself. This book deals with Mina going to a new school and things she deals with or struggles with emotionally. And the illustrations and quality of the books is great! Please write more Katrina Liu!

Perfect for preschoolers.
My preschool daughter loves this story. She insisted that I read it twice the first night. By the end of the story, she was singing “Mina, Mina!” Sweet storyline that is easy for youngsters to follow. Reminiscent of Ni Hao Kai Lan with the other furry friends. The language/word choices are easy to learn and are useful phrases for everyday. I am not a native Mandarin speaker, so I love that the pin yin is included with the Chinese characters. Hopefully we see more adventures from Mina and her friends. ❤️

Katrina Liu creates beautiful bilingual Chinese/Pinyin/English story books that keep children of all Chinese language levels engaged! The stories are delightful and the illustrations are adorable and captivating. These books keep the child curious and wanting to learn more Chinese Mandarin! The stories are also very relatable. These are bilingual books that you definitely want to add to your children's book collection. As a Taiwanese/Chinese American parent, I would recommend these books to all of my friends, family and teachers.
