Land of contrasts, welcoming to tourists...
The area that is now Belgium has been fought over for centuries. Within its modern boundaries is found a bi-lingual population which treasures its respective French and Dutch traditions, which also is the de facto political center of a modern united Europe, with Brussels as the capital of the European Union. Best of all for tourists, Belgium has on offer the best of everything, from Medieval churches to modern art, battlefields from Waterloo to Flanders field, and no end of high end shopping to great eats. This DK Top Ten guidebook focuses on the classic Belgian cities of Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp, and Ghent, although worthwhile excursions are noted. The format begins with a suggested top ten for the visitor in a hurry, followed by more expansive lists broken out by categories such as museums, churches, art galleries, festivals, and other attractions. The guide includes specific chapters of each of the four headline cities, and concludes with a very worthwhile chapter on travel practicalities. As with other DK Eyewitness guides, this one includes lots of color photographs and maps. There is even a tear-out map in the back for touristing, and handy phrases in French and Dutch. Well recommended as a travel planning resource.

Best book about Brussels ever.
My husband was worried when I bought it because of the price. However, after I took a couple hours to read through it, I couldn't believe how much info was in it. Since my boys are taking me to Brussels next Spring, I sent one to each of them from Amazon too. Couldn't have asked for more. 😊 🏰

Belgium guidebook
Good guide book, but way too heavy for us "lite travelers".

Essential piece of travel kit
This guide is excellent. I normally have some reservations where the guide focuses on multiple areas rather than just one city but this book is the exception. It’s nice and small to carry round yet has enough detail to cover any short break and still leave you wanting to come back for more. It covers the main things to do in a short break. The pull out map is excellent. It means I can refer to the maps in the book and my wife can refer to the pull out map and stick it in her pocket or bag. The maps also cover Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp in enough detail which is no mean feat. This book is an excellent way to do some tough planning in advance of your holiday and then have a pleasurable stress free time when there. Recommended.

A must for your travel kit
Excellent guide, small to carry, concise, ideal for short trips with the most important things to do during a visit. Handy laminated pull out map, together with some apps like Google Maps for directions from A to B, and Citymapper to let us know when the bus, tram, train is coming or where to get off, we are set for an enjoyable, no stress visit

Great for planning your break
Love these guide books. Perfect to plan a trip for a city break, we would not even think about an alternative publisher. Looking forward to our trip now we have researched where we want to stay and visit
