I'll get straight to the point...I've seen a number of reviews complaining about the included screwdriver and how it isn't fit for purpose, making the job of putting the unit together frustrating and challenging. I agree and ALMOST docked a star from my rating as well. HOWEVER, I have a screwdriver that was fit for purpose, and when I got to the dodgy/difficult screws, I switched to it and things ran swimmingly again. If you have a multipurpose screwdriver kit, you will most likely have a short screwdriver that fits. If not, I would invest in one (helpful in general in home DIY!)Therefore, I am basing my review solely upon the product itself, not so much the process of putting it all together. As one other reviewer mentioned, if they hadn't included a screwdriver, people would have still complained, although I do appreciate the argument that if you are going to include a screwdriver, ensure it's one that works well, all the time (tight spaces are the bane of long screwdrivers!)This unit was easy to put together (caveat!), sturdy, looks great and functions perfectly.I bought it to organise my daughters' revision/homework books which were not only cluttering the dining room table, but would come crashing down at the slightest breeze "Sturdy" bookends were not the solution. I did worry whether the books would fit on this unit (larger than regular reading books) but my fears were unfounded. STURDY. FUNCTIONAL. LOOKS GREAT.I've now bought one to organise the books on my nightstand... vertical stacking is the way of the future!Thanks for reading, good luck with any and all DIY.

The lowest shelf was really awkward to assemble due to angle. The supplied small screwdriver was awkward to use, so I ended up using my own. Having said that, it is perfectly fit for purpose and looks good.

So to be honest I ordered a regular bookshelf from Argos. They didn't deliver so I cancelled order and took to Amazon. Thankfully! This is a great bookcase that takes an amazing amount of books, perfect for lockdown reading. It looks so stylish and very good quality. Easy to assemble too. But as an other reviewer recommended work from top down unless you have small screwdrivers.

An easy to put together shelf unit that holds many books, cds and magazines stylishly. Very good value for money.

It’s looks pretty simple in the picture but this little bookcase isn’t that easy to assemble.This is because the shelves are too close together and you can’t get get your hand in with the screwdriver. Not made any easier by the supplied screwdriver being too long and thin. I used a short, stubby one of my own in the end. Would probably be easier starting assembly of the case from the top and then screw to the back board. BTW this isn’t a very practical bookcase neither as the ‘shelves’ are very close together so larger books have to lie down. This bookcase was ordered by my partner, it not what I would have chosen

Product is fine and fit for purpose, in fact I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it is but I wish I had read the review that says to assemble it backwards in terms of the instructions. The screwdriver is useless as is noted in other reviews. Would buy it again.

A few people mention that the only downside is the screwdriver that comes with the item. With the greatest of respect, had the item not come with one in the first place, people would have moaned.I used the one it came with and it was totally fine but I must admit that I used a smaller screwdriver to tighten the screws on the undersides.
