Great for camping - just remember to cover the power button with seran wrap or zip-lock bag
Another camper had brought this to one of the camping trips and we knew we had to get the same exact one. It's incredibly convenient especially if water is not readily available near your camp site. Just fill up a 5 gallon bottle (it will not fit any bottle less than the 5 gallon capacity bottle) with water from the fountain (or lake, ew, but if you must...) and take it back to your campsite. This does well with everything, from washing dishes to washing your hands and brushing our teeth. It is NOT waterproof though, so be sure to put something on the top to cover the red power button. Originally, I had planned on bringing seran wrap, but since I forgot it, I used something even better: a zip lock bag. It's kept my pump from short-circuiting and lasting only 1 camping trip. Please remember to run it only less than 3-5 minutes at a time (as those were the instructions on the box), as it can over-heat and short-circuit. I even taped a large note on the bottle so everyone knows not to over-run the pump or I will go after their wallets...It's easy to assemble, uses 2 big D batteries, and actually doesn't do quite bad in the heat under the sun for 3 days. A little bit about the assembling part though, it can be quite confusing. Once you place the pump into the bottle, do you twist left or do you twist right to tighten it? This is one of those things that literally no MAN/GUY can do it unless they are real detail-oriented and has a "gentle" touch. The guy who brought this to our previous camping trips used a rubber-band to tie it together. Nope. It really just takes a little squinting, a little patience, and little gentleness to tighten the screw onto the bottle. If you over-tighten it, it will loosen. If you don't seat it JUST RIGHT, it won't lock in place like it should. After a few tries, only one person was able to tighten it correctly and quickly. Everyone else's effort is just moot. One thing about it, which is noted on the retail box, is that it may stop or slow down pumping when the bottle's liquid reaches less than 1/4 capacity. Yes, this was sort of inconvenient, as this meant we only have 3/4 bottle to work with, but we dedicated the task of refilling the bottle's water to one of the guys - and they were more than happy to do it. He's happy, I'm happy, everyone's happy. So the 3/4 capacity limit wasn't a huge deal. He probably had to go and refill once or twice a day for a 12-people camping trip. Another thing is that with previous camping trips, I noticed I washed my hands a lot less without this pump just out of laziness, you know. This trip, I'm just using up the water to wash my hands every chance I get because the water is RIGHT THERE next to our camp site.It is now sitting in our garage with our 5-gallon bottle. We take the batteries out after we come back from camping. I have a battery-tester and the battery is still above 90% after one 3 day trip, so I'm pretty pleased. Some people, like us, will pay a little more for convenience. This is one of them. We only bought this for the sole purpose of using it for our camping trips.

Works like a champ
Recycled some previous 5 gal water cooler bottles, refilled and recapped (caps avail on Amazon) to take to my off grid cabin... This pump is perfect. Now have running water as needed for dishes and sanitation. Might buy a couple more...

Not bad
This pump lasted quite well after a year of use. I did find removing it from the water jug difficult as it was not easy to twist off the pump and place it on another water jug. Because this is battery operated, I found myself changing it every 3 months due to heavy usage, but you'll notice a slow down of the water flow after 2 months. Also, it does dribble some water after turning off the switch. The pump itself did not break on me nor did it malfunction. It does make a noise when you turn it on but it's not that loud. I kept this until we got a bottom load water cooler. Worth getting if you don't feel like spending >$100 on a water cooler.

Works perfectly well after one year of use
Update after 9 months: Still works perfectly. Been using the pump 2 or 3 times a week. Had to change batteries only once.

Surprisingly great flow. It couldn't be easier to use with the on/off switch. I previously owned the kind with a hand pump but my carpal tunnel limited how useful it was. I would have given it 5 stars if it fit my bottle. It didn't fit but worked anyway. For hands free use I secured it to the bottle with duct tape.

It doesn't pump out the last gallon from a 5gal bottle.
Tube is not long enough to reach to the bottom of a 5gal bottle.

Great Coffee Maker filler.
Works great! Using it on a plastic water bottle. Flawless performance. As noted by other reviewers, the pick up does not reach to bottom of the bottle, by by then, the bottle is easy to lift, so no worries .I added a 3/4 inch ID tube to allow easy filling of my coffee maker.

I love it.
I attended an event a local university, and they used one of these on a five-gallon bottle of water. I was fascinated by it, and bought one on my iPhone immediately.I use it at home to refill my athletic water bottles. More importantly, I use it parties and BBQs. I fill a huge, insulated bag that I bought from Wal-Mart with water, sit the 5-gallon bottle of water in the ice, and screw on the pump. It is the best thing that every happened to my Southern, backyard BBQs. I actually have two of them for entertaining. It's a lot cheaper than buying tons of bottled water. This pump requires D batteries. After you finish, it has a slight drip for about 2 seconds so a drip pan is necessary (or hold your cup up to it for a little longer).
