Wobbly Worm Gear!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Good and simple design but not great quality control. As mentioned by a different reviewer, my robotics club also needed to "run-in" the gears with an electric drill for a little while to get the gears to rotate smoothly. Although the "run-in" process was helpful in loosening up the gearbox, we noticed that the 6mm bore of the worm drive seems to have excessive runout/misalignment with its axis leading to a bad wobble when rotating (see video). We'll be adding a 6mm/6mm flexible coupler between the motor and the worm drive to try to accommodate this manufacturing error.

Poor quality control
This is a great idea, but poorly implemented. I wanted to use three of these on a robot, bought one at first to try it out. After assembly, it would only turn less than a full turn then lockup, since the gears are not milled properly. I ended up using stages of lapping compound and a drill to lap the gears in order to get it to work. Contacted Pitsco support, and they claimed there was no issue that they were aware of. Well, I ordered a second one, giving them the benefit of the doubt, and guess what, the second one is actually worse. Unless you have some lapping compound and know how to lap gears, I recommend you not purchase this part as you will be sadly disappointed.

Great for lifts
These worm gears are very useful for robot parts such as lifts. Due to the worm design, a stopped motor will not have pressure to move passed from the brass gear to the turn gear. This allows lift systems to maintain their position without motor power. The drive gear also has one side with a large hole that nicely fits the end of the Tetrix drive motors, so that no other axle connectors are needed. Not simple to build, but wonderful once they are working.

One Star
Product arrived with no bushings- emailed Pitsco customer service and they were great - thank you Pitsco

Overpriced, poorly made, weak. Wish there was a better alternative.
Poor value for the money. Tiny set screws that strip easily and are hard to replace. Not a well made product.

Hard to assemble correctly to run and does not run ...
Hard to assemble correctly to run and does not run smoothly. Initial thread is on both 4 and 10:1 were bent.
