Magickal Faerytales: An Enchanted Collection of Retold Tales Hardcover – November 8, 2019

I'm blown away by this book, but I've come to expect no less from Lucy Cavendish. Her reputation for packing in tons of information and research is met by her ability to season it with magic and fun. The book is a treasured keepsake, and I didn't expect so much at such a great price. It measures 8.5" by 11" and is packed with full color artwork by Jasmine Becket-Griffith that leaves the imagination with a full tummy. The hardcover is linen which lends it an antique feel in keeping with the theme of age old stories. Not only does her take on the stories delight, but the epilogue is filled deep and meaningful reflections that brings you closer to your favorite tales in a new way. I fell that this book is for all ages, although I haven't read all of the stories yet, my review couldn't wait. I can't believe this one almost got by me, but I'm so grateful it didn't!

Lucy Cavendish's insightful approach to long-standing faery tales/folk tales offers the reader an opportunity for a different perspective. I've read the introduction and the first chapter -- Snow White. I highly recommend this book. Jasmine Backet-Griffith's art work is so very beautiful. Thank you for all your efforts to create this book.

This book is a beautiful treasure of art and story. I bought it for myself as a birthday gift and I absolutely love it. The energy from this book is just warm and delicious. I carried it around with me the whole day I received it. Highly recommend.

This book is gorgeous. From the quality fabric cover to the glossy pages and art, this book will enchant you. It’s definitely worthy of a collection. The stories are told with the author’s own beliefs woven through. She then details what the symbolism means to her after each story. I deducted one star because she hasn’t cited any sources and her writing is slightly juvenile. Despite this, I think this is a worthy book to have in your library.

This is a beautiful book that retells the fairytales in a compelling way. It is very unique.

This book is stunning! I love the summing up of possible lessons the fairytales give, and the activities to tickle the imagination. My granddaughter loves the art and the color!
