Buy These!
I have three of these bowls and use them everyday, often multiple times. They are the most versatile bowls in my kitchen. They work for soup, dips, individual Chicken Pot Pies, cereal or desserts. And I use them as I cook to beat eggs, makes sauces or dressings, and as prep bowls. I absolutely love them, at least as much as you can love a bowl. The porcelain is strong, they can go under the broiler for French Onion Soup, and they don't chip even though my husband does the dishes. Ordering more. You won't be disappointed with Pillivuyt porcelain. It's not cheap but it lasts and is a classic.

Best Porcelain in the World
This is an exquisite piece. The finish is A+++. I happen to love porcelain and French porcelain is the absolute best. It doesn't chip , no discolorations... And... it may go under the broiler. Some of my French porcelain I have had for years and it is still gorgeous. I truly cannot say enough for Pillivuyt porcelain. It truly is worth the investment...will never go out of style... and will always be gorgeous. I would rate it higher if it were possible!

Do it right
I too did a lot of research after years of making French Onion Soup in makeshift options such as ramekins. I've learned that virtually all of these types of bowls are made in China; with the added stress on the glaze of going under the broiler I was not comfortable with that situation. Also, most of these kinds of soup bowls have large handles on the side which make storing them problematic.I finally realized that I had to be willing to pay more than Wal-Mart prices if I wanted something worth buying. These bowls are solidly made, by craftsmen in France. They have cute little wings instead of big clunky arms to move them safely when filled with hot soup. I don't have to be worried about what's in the glaze. And there aren't the usual minor blemishes one gets used to putting up with in lesser-made consumer products.Bottom line: these bowls are beautiful. If you're going to serve French Onion Soup, serve it in bowls you'll be proud to have on your table.

Great!
I researched for a while before getting these bowls. They are sturdy and I love the "ears" on these bowls! Great product.

Yes they are broiler safe!
I was searching for nice quality bowls that were specifically broiler safe. I have purchased other soup bowls in the past that had hidden labels: not broiler safe, or heat resistant only to 350 degrees. What good is that when you are craving home made french onion soup coated in gruyere? I was close to purchasing the le creuset bowls, when I happened upon these. I found the shape much more appealing than the handled soup bowls. Since receiving these I have used them for soup, dips, serving bowls, and dessert bowls. While more expensive than I hoped to pay on Amazon(I love the deals) I have no regrets. They have washed well in the dishwasher and even survived a cringing bump with no chips. I want to stress- the purchase is a single bowl. The price is more than some of the other bowls on Amazon, but it is not made in China and is broiler safe. I intend to purchase more in the future.

What else can you expect from his brand other than 5 stars?
Good, solid purchase that will last a very long time. I am a fan of this brand and these soup bowls deliver the expected quality. The bowls are not cheap, but they are a good investment. I ordered 6 and I plan to order 4 more pretty soon. Everybody loves eating soup from them and it is easy to carry them to the table. I am very happy I bought them!
