Picture Book of Psalms: For Seniors with Dementia [Large Print Bible Verse Picture Books] (Religious Activities for Seniors with Dementia)

I read to patients at a nursing home. Today I used this book with two people and they were looking at and running fingers over the lovely pictures. Then a person I was reading to began whispering along with Psalm 23 "The Lord is my Shepherd..." and took the book out of my hand and began sounding out other verses in the book. A family member walked in and watched and was surprised to see their loved one reading the scripture and said they didn't even know reading was a still a possibility. It was clearly emotional to see the connection with this book and the scriptures. We talked about our mutual Christian faith and Jesus was noticeably familiar and remaining in the thoughts. This book gave the family a lovely moment with a spark of hope. For me, as an outsider, it was a measurable reason why volunteering in a difficult place has value. The book has one verse from the Psalms on a page in very large print. On the opposing page is a lovely photograph from nature. The simplicity, huge print, and plenty of white space around the words were perfect. The photos are beautiful. For anyone from a Christian background the words are familiar and comforting and allow for a conversation on God, Jesus, heaven, and other Bible stories. And nowhere on the book is dementia or alzheimer's mentioned so it doesn't cause any upset. I hope the publisher makes more books like this one using the Bible. I gave the copy I had to the person I shared it with, and ordered additional copies to take with me on future visits.

My mom loves these books! She has a hard time reading, and these large print books are perfect for her to be able to read by herself. She used to always read her Bible, but the words get jumbled, now that she has dementia, so she's thrilled to be able to read Bible verses in these books (with beautiful pictures)

Usually only one verse to a page which is good for short attention spans. Engaging photos on the facing pages. I recommend each of these in the series.

The media could not be loaded. Really nice book with big print. I do wish it went in order and had a table of contents so you could look up specific verses, but if that’s not important to you or whoever you’re gifting it to then it doesn’t matter.

This is a really good book. Large, clear, print and of course, beautiful content.

Bought for my 97 year old friend who has dementia, she loved it! Large writing, beautiful pictures, well known Psalms.

The book is a good size and has a nice weight to it. I like the material, it has a sort of paper-plastic feel to it. I bought this for my grandma who is 90 and has cataracts so trouble seeing well. She was able to read most of the words and I think that made her feel good.

I didn't know quite what to expect but was pleased with it.

The book either needed to be bigger or the font smaller. There simply wasn't room for many psalms. But the seniors loved it, which is all that matters.
